I have been researching a lot of late 1920s newspapers recently. And I am constantly seeing articles about Young Stribling. Particularly around late January 1929 when he was considered the top contender for the heavyweight title.
These articles mention that he was also a basketball player and loved to fly planes. He was also into motorcycles (which killed him at a young age), etc. This guy seemed to love action and adventure. I'm not gay ("not that there is anything wrong with that"
), but he was also a handsome man from all the photos I have seen of him. And he had a ton of fights during his short but remarkable career. What he could have achieved if he hadn't died so young, I cannot imagine. (He left behind a widow and two young girls.)
