Jeff Chandler vs Wilfredo Gomez@122lbs in their primes

Post by zuru »

(keep in mind this fight takes place when both are in their primes)Chandler was a good boxer/ puncher, with a good chin, cocky attitude, and a longer reach & height advantage. He had pretty good hand speed,a very good jab.He could box or slug. Most "experts" picked him to beat fellow bantam Champ Pintor, and we all know what a fight Pintor gave Gomez.(Though in my opinion,Gomez was a little past his prime with Pintor, otherwise he would have won much easier).I see Chandler trying to use the reach and box using his jab,but a prime Gomez was a special fighter.I see him slipping his way in,and pummeling Chandler.Chandler's heart and ego would take a beating that would end by mid to late rounds K.O.,with either his corner,or the referee stopping the fight to save a badly battered Chandler.

At there primes Gomez would be too rugged and relentless for Chandler. I see Wilfredo winning by stopping Chandler around the 10th round.

I go with the slightly bigger man and say Gomez on a late round stoppage, probably about 13th round.
