froch
i know it's late but it's the first time i've seen it,but the porras fight has just been on eurosport..and porras was world ranked remember but frock looked so slick......one more fight and he should be fighting for belts....best bet would be for the ebu against tyspoak???..what ever he's called, then a world.....and i'd back him both fights
Yeah i just watched it for the first time, Froch looks very good when he is delivering those sharp combinations and very classy and has obvious power. The one problem remains his defence, the low left hand is bad enough but i noticed Froch doesn't even lift his hands when being punched, he just keeps them by his side and takes the shots flush. That cannot be very good for his longevity, this tactic may work against a guy like Porras who throws punches in bursts and stops but when he faces a quality puncher who puts shots together and maintains attacks then standing still and taking flush hits isn't going to work.
For goodness sake Froch you have the talent just keep those bloody hands higher!! As for his finish well it was classy stuff wasn't it, let's see him in the ring again soon. Any word on his next opponent? Tsypko for the European belt seems the natural progressive step.

I didn't realise it was on, stumbled across it halfway through the 7th round. Bit pissed-off, because I hadn't seen it before. Froch did look good in the few minutes I saw, that lead left uppercut looked vicious.
I echo everything Steve says about his defence though. It's going to cost him at some point, but he's not going to change now.

A couple of times throughout the show they plugged Herbie Hide's comeback show at 8pm on Saturday, i wasn't paying much attention...is that an old advert or is it this coming Saturday?
I watched David Walker after te main event and it makes you wonder why he was let in with Jamie Moore after that fight with Howard Clarke.

Pepsi - prove people wrong in what sense? i am no fan of Joe, but he has more than enough ring savvy to exploit Froch's lack of glove defense - swaying out te way is fine, have your mitts somewhere up your chops to nullify power.
Talent wise, Carl can do well, style wise, he needs a trainer who can give him a rollicking. he should spar with a few lighter guys faster than him, a welterweight banging him on the chin even with 14 oz gloves might remind him it is no fun being punched.

I would suggest put him in with a trainer who can work with but not chainge his style, he isn't often hit flush and moves his head well someone like manny stewart would be good, on the english level maybe brenden Ingle he has trained a few fighters of that style.Loynesy wrote:Pepsi - prove people wrong in what sense? i am no fan of Joe, but he has more than enough ring savvy to exploit Froch's lack of glove defense - swaying out te way is fine, have your mitts somewhere up your chops to nullify power.

I think magee would give him a better fight than you think not that i think that he would win but i think he is to dangerous an opponent for froch at the minute after magee's showing in dublin the other week, granted against limited opposition but he showed the desire that was lacking when he and reid met last year. Think it best to keep these two apart for the time being and concentrate on a clearly dissinterested reid who appears to be there for the taking.pepsi wrote:Froch will give Magee and Reid a good beating. He would then move onto Calzaghe a fight which will prove many people wrong.
Froch called Magee out when Calzageh droped out of the fight in Dublin not so long ago. He has since put adverts in the Belfast papers calling out Maggee so it seems he wants the fight.
Froch did Davtyan Maggee's last opponent in his 7th fight if I remember correctly quite a good match up aswell. Hope now maggee feels he is back to wining ways he will get in the ring with froch (maybe another warm up), not sure I agree fighters should be kept apart because it might be a tough match up though achybreaky I think Froch could learn more from it.

Good points but i think maggee is very underrated at the minute after tsypko debacle and a loss to maggee at this stage of frochs career would do untold damage and leave him out of the picture for a while. I agree that froch is a very talented operator and could be heading to the top but there are smarter fights out there for him against ranked fighters like the aforementioned tsypko who is ranked highly in the top ten. Admittedly i am a fan of magee's and personally think it would be a very close fight that froch could quite easily come off the worse.josh fg wrote:Froch called Magee out when Calzageh droped out of the fight in Dublin not so long ago. I love these guys who make predictions about prospects like :- as soon as he steps up he'll get beaten or as soon as he fights someone half decent he'll get knocked out
Predicting that a boxer is going to get beaten or knocked out at SOME POINT in their career is far too open-ended and not that clever.
Can we at least be a bit more specific when prediciting the downfall of such boxers, because on the aforementioned subject, the boxer could go through his whole career having the same statements being made about him. So it would fair to see the same clever-clogs hold their hands up and say "I got it wrong".

I have given my views on Froch many more times than i would care to. Because he has such a large army of loyal fans the same Frochy subjects keep appearing, its that time now where i've given up explaining why i think he's no good.
P.S. and thats no cop-out, its just the plain old truth!
"No good" ?
Since when did boxers who are "no good" win 2 senior ABA championships, a senior world championships Bronze medal, turn pro win an Enlish title, British and Commonwealth tiltles.
All sounds a bit vague to me.
Would losing to Jeff Lacy or Mikkel Kessler be the sort of guys your referring? If so, your argument is crap!

I agree with you, simply saying 'no good' is highly innacurate. I'm ending on this note though......... he has been over-hyped to be something he is clearly not, talk of him fighting Calzaghe, Kessler, Lacy etc is laughable. I would take Brian Magee to wipe the floor with him.THEBUTCH wrote:"No good" ?

Froch beats Magee by KO IMO, Froch's chin is solid and he has enough speed and power to put BIG dents in Magee, Its a fight I'd really like to see though.
There is no way this planet that Froch avoids Magee in any way shape or form, although the reverse could quite likely happen IMO
