Bullshit from 'The Quiet Man'

Post by dondada »

I used to feel sorry for the shit Ruiz used to get just for making the best of his entirely average ability. But coming out with some of the rubbish you see below does him no favours. His comments about VK being a quitter show no class.

LAS VEGAS (November 10, 2005) - World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz (41-5-1, 28 KOs) is at training camp in Las Vegas preparing for his December 17th title defense against Nicolay Valuev (42-0, 31 KOs) in Berlin. Ruiz offered his opinion on a wide variety of subjects including Vitali Klitschko's retirement, the WBC, HBO and The Ring magazine heavyweight champion, James Toney's steroid case, Don King's proposed heavyweight championship tournament, and his Dec. 17th title defense against Valuev.

Vitali Klitschko: "The first words I'm going to say in Germany are, 'I'm not Klitschko; I'm no chicken.' Klitschko has always been a quitter. He's quitting again because he couldn't handpick his opponent to defend his title against. He always quits when the going gets tough."

The WBC: "Why is the WBC considered by some to be the title for heavyweights? I keep hearing it's the linear title. When was the last time a WBC heavyweight champion really won the title from the champ in the ring? I don't mean when Oliver McCall broke down and quit against (Lennox) Lewis. Go back and look it up and you'll be surprised how long it's been. Klitschko and Lewis won vacant titles; they didn't beat the defending champ."

HBO & Ring: "Klitschko was handed those 'belts' when Lewis retired. He lost and became champ? It looks like HBO and Ring's valedictorian got on stage and dropped his cheat sheet. They hand out belts like government cheese; get in line because you may be next. What makes a real champion? Fighting top contenders, not handpicked opponents like Klitschko's done."

James Toney: Some are saying and writing that I should have demanded a rematch against Toney instead of suing him. First, he can't fight for the WBA title for two years because he got caught cheating. He doesn't deserve to fight for any world title. We've challenged him over and over to make his test results public and he still hasn't because everybody will know he's a liar and a cheat. Why should I fight him again? He had his chance and cheated. If he cheated in our first fight what's stopping him from cheating again? Boxing still hasn't set-up a random drug testing policy. The day it does maybe I'll consider fighting him again."

Heavyweight Tournament: "I've been calling for a tournament for a long time and now that Klitschko has retired I think it'll happen next year. The public needs to know who the man is in the heavyweight division and the only way to prove it is in a tournament with the four champions putting their belts on the line. My goal has always been to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. I can't wait."

Nicolay Valuev: "I'm fighting him because he's the No. 1 contender. I don't pick and choose my opponents like Klitschko. Valuev deserves the title shot; he's earned it. I'm going halfway around the world to fight a giant in his backyard because I'm a true world champion."

Is it just me or is Ruiz starting to shoot his mouth off far to much lately? He is no Toney with the lyrics and it isn't his style, he should really go back to being the 'Quiet Man' and leave the trash talking to the people who can back it up in the ring!

He's got to do something to sell himself. Without a bit of hype he's going to sell precisely no tickets. The Valuev fight is going to be seriously, seriously ugly.

Ruiz is a cock....

"I am flying half way around the world to fight"..... ok, but Vitali flew further for his fights in the USA...... so fornicating what......

Bad mouthing a guy who had to retire through injury so ZERO class whats so ever......

Ruiz should give Tua a rematch before he starts shouting his mouth off... thats what a real champ would do (ie Lennox, Ali, Sugar Ray) get back in there with the guy who beat you

Isn't Vitali going home to the Ukraine to get involved in politics etc?

I thought that he would have done an 'Arnie' and tried his luck as a strong accented, muscular action hero type in Hollywood.

Ruiz is the most boring champion in heavyweight history and everyone knows it except his die hard fans. He only mouths off about VK after he has retired  What a tough guy he is. He knows Vitali would have kicked his ass.

I dont know what your gettin at here i was saying his opposition of the top heavyweights (insert sarcastic comment of your choice here) is better than most have faced and that cant be disputed.

I think he is a cock for mouthing off aswell by the way.

me neither ;-)
I think i was making the point that Ruiz thinks he is a big baller fighting away from home once in his life and then goes on to disrespect other peoples opponents when he never went for the most obvious match out there for himself (Tua)

Mr Mcneilly - I couldn't agree with you more. I used to think people were really unfair to Ruiz, but considering the money he has made (undeservedly), the Toney court case and his moaning about VK, the sooner he is out of the picture the better...

Very true, I thought he was away when Roy Jones beat him, then he came back. Then when James Toney beat him on the night, I was pleased. I was near sick when I heard Toney was stripped and Ruiz was awarded the belt back. It's bad enough having to hear the crap he talks whenever he fights the way he does in the ring. Vitali Klitschko would of made a fool out of Ruiz.

If he has a problem with Toney, he should of rematched him in a non title fight due to Toney's WBA ban. No way on earth it was those injury steriods that beat Ruiz, it was Toney. Had Toney been given more time to train, he'd have laid even more hurt on Ruiz. That's why Ruiz is going to court instead of facing him like a man again

I can't see why he has such a problem with Don King for, King made him some decent money considering he is boring to watch and generally shit.
