Ricky Parkey IBF Cruiserweight

Post by crazedboxer »

Ricky Parkey was the IBF World Cruiserweight Champion from 1986-1987.

Parkey held a win over Renaldo Snipes before winning the cruiserweight title from Lee Roy Murphy by TKO. Murphy was one of the best cruisers at the time. Parkey made a successful defense before facing Evander Holyfield in the unification bout. Parkey was 20-4 before he faced Holyfield and retired with a record of 22-20(16). Parkey went 2-16 after the Holyfield fight. That is a worse falling out then Leon Spinks when you look at his record. Does Parkey have one of the worse records of a former world champ? All due respect to Parkey, he was a world champion and that is something that nobody can take away, but it's a shame to see a champion lose so much.

I remember watching Parkey's USBA title fight with Alfonso Ratliff and in betwee rounds when Ratliff was in the corner the lettering came off the corner pad of the ring and stuck to his back. He fought with letters stuck to his back for some rounds. I guess he was one that started all this Goldenpalace.com idea :TU:
