My mom used to tell me stories about her dad, who during the 1930's-1940 was an amateur boxer who won a Gold Glove. My relatives who live in N.Y. have newspaper clippings and his trunks, and supposedly also have his trophies, but unfortunately I am not in contact with them anymore. I am trying to find any kind of information about him that I can but do not know where to start. Heres some information that my mom gave me:
--John McGuinness (may be referenced as "Jack" McGuinness)
--boxed with the "Flatbush Boys"
--Boxed in Madison Square Garden and won a Gold Glove in 1936
--was a Lightweight
All I know is that he stopped fighting because of the wars...
Thats pretty much all she could remember, but she says that she may even be wrong...
Any help would be appreciated.
Help locating info on my grandfather.... Amateur boxer

The "Flatbush Boys" is probably a reference to the Flatbush Boys Club in BrooklyniMPULSZE wrote:My mom used to tell me stories about her dad, who during the 1930's-1940 was an amateur boxer who won a Gold Glove.
