Although he would from time to time score a spectacular knockout for the most part Lennox Lewis was very boring to watch! Virgil Hill was painful to watch for most of his bouts as was Gianfranco Rosi. I'm sure there are tons more if you want to sit down and concentrate about it.

Yeah, Lewis was often too cautious to make for an exciting fight........ probably due to knowing he had a china chin to protect.barry wrote:Although he would from time to time score a spectacular knockout for the most part Lennox Lewis was very boring to watch! Those 2 German-based boxers, Maske and Ottke were awfully boring to watch too.

Top ten most boring fighters of all time.
Egon Roth, undefeated German heavyweight and soft-left-jabber.
Will he ever throw a right punch before the last round?

Pernell Whitaker is by far the most boring fighter of all time. He fought all the greats...Nelson, Chavez, De la Hoya but I cant recall one single fornicating highlight from all those fights combined. He was damn hard to beat but it would be hard to make it into the later rounds without falling asleep.

I was ringside for his first fight with Nigel Benn and thought it was an entertaining fight to be honest, although Benn fights always had a great atmosphere. But even whatching Benn - Malinga 1 on tape I still think it was a good fight.theone wrote:Sugar boy Maligna was the most boring quality fighter I have ever seen. Every single fight I ever seen of him was a snore fest. He was so good at being boring he made normally exciting fighters seem boring as well.
But I understand your general point.
I actually have a few Howard Davis Jr's fights on tape and quite enjoy watching them from time to time. The guy had some great skills, just lacked the toughness and duribility to win the big ones.Nile4000 wrote:And basically fought with a safety-first style.expug wrote:It was tough to watch Howard Davis jr. fight back in the 70s.He was on t.v all the time and came with a lot of hype.
Actually whitaker at his best was quite breathtaking to behold. His defensive skills were arguably the best ever and it was amazing to watch him slip punches at close range and stilll maintain himself in perfect counter punching position. His second fight with Ramirez, his two with Buddy Mcgirt and his battle with Greg Haugan are amoung my favorites. His fght with Chavez was also impressive, but although i think Whitaker won his rounds bigger, I was shocked to see at the end of the fight that I had scored it a draw as well.Pernell Whitaker is by far the most boring fighter of all time
Yea, I remember him knocking Haugen down in the corner of the ring early in his career. In all fairness, he also became very exciting later in his career when he started to plant his feet. He visited the canvas with a little more regularity but his fight with Trinidad was great and his fight with a Hurtado is a classic.

Some More Boring Fighters
The boring fighter list should also include Jack Johnson,
Gene Tunney, and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad (Eddie
Gregory).

Pernell Whitaker boring ??? I'd rather watch Sweet Pea and his radar like defense, than the ever popular Arturo "I couldn't duck a punch to save my life" Gatti anyday. I guess someone who finds Whitaker boring would also complain about having to watch a shutout in baseball, football, soccer, hockey, etc.
