West Melbourne Stadium not Festival Hall
Please change it back to what it was please Graham.
West Melbourne Stadium up till June 1959 - Festival Hall after that date in my record.
This has been discussed with Bryan Membrey and he maintains Festival Hall did not exist during the times as quoted above.
You may view the correct record on my website http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au
Thanks

Hello Graham,
Thank you for your response but I am sorry to inform you that you are right about the burndown date but Wrong about the naming.
West Melbourne Stadium was rebuilt and not renamed until some time between my fights of June 1959 and October 1959.
Proof of this is the fightcards in the Newspapers of the day.
http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au/you ... record.htm
Please amend it back to what it was as it was correct all the time as arranged with Ric a long time ago.
Hope you all stay safe
Cheers

I'm afraid you are wrong. When it was rebuilt it was named Festival Hall.
But, some things die hard. People still called it West Melb. Stadium...particularly boxing's.
Much the same if Challa Gardens Hotel in Torrens Road West Croydon South Australia, which has been around for 50 years, was leveled, rebuilt & named The Grand...Locals & regulars would still call it Challa for a long long time.
Wish my friend Ken Brodziak (Stadiums Ltd) was still around. He'd be able to set the record straight. :P

Anton,
I am running out of things to tell you the nice way and its not like me to be nasty either but I lived in the area for 30 years, I am uni educated, I have held leading engineer positions and ran several businesses.
I am saying this to convince you that when I speak of something as important as this I dont quote anything without substance.
"You have two choices here to convince yourself"
A/ you have a look at this link and see for yourself the fight cards advertised by STADIUMS on the same week the fights were on (also see the headings)
http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au/programs.htm
and
http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au/you ... record.htm
B/ HERE IS FURTHER PROOF OF THE REBUILT BUILDING WITH ITS NAME ON IT
http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au/memorabilia.htm
PLEASE LOOK INTO IT BECAUSE IF YOU CHANGED EVERYONE'S RECORD YOU HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM (I sincerely hope you have not)
Cheers

I have had this confirmed by the three biggest boxing authorities in Australia.
Please don't force me to publicizing this problem on my website which is the one of highest ranking on MSN as everyone in Australia will see it.
I have nothing but respect for BOXREC its a shame that unsupervised editors can go this far.
I hope the issue is resolved and ended.

West Melbourne Stadium not Festival Hall
Here is some proof I hope you are convinced:
NEW BUILDING "not the old corrigated iron one" with NAME STADIUM
http://www.youngvictorboxing.com.au/wes ... tadium.jpg
Festival Hall as is now known - Stadium then and known as West Melbourne Stadium was built by John Wren in 1915. Rebuilt in 1956 after being burnt down the year before, it was the Olympic Games venue for gymnastics and wrestling. In the 1950s and 1960s it became an entertainment centre, with famous appearances including Bill Haley, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles. It was renamed Festival Hall in the latter part of 1959.

West Melbourne Stadium not Festival Hall Thanks Anton
Thank you very much Anton :
I hope you are satisfied with the error that was made in my record and in all those corresponding ones.
I thank you for promising to change it, It will be a sin not to especially for famous boxers in "Boxing History: not so much mine.
It contains 4 years plus of inaccuracy.

I can't just do yours, I'll have to do the whole lot, which is time consuming and I haven't got the time at the moment. I'll try to get Graham or Mike to do it when they can. I only really deal with the current stuff & not history. With constantly updating Aust. upcoming shows, followed by results & keeping tabs on Fiji, Tonga etc is the reason. Graham doesn't have to do that. Mike keeps tabs on NZ, but there isn't a great deal happening there. Just relax & in time it will happen.
Cheers

Hello John,
Obviously you were showing the editors concerned.
It does not seem an impossible task to change them back.
I know who may be able to have the accurate info for the exact date it was renamed.
I may be able to contact him and that is Mr David Lean whom is Old Dick's grandson and Young Dick son.
It was done in Old Dick's days and they were part owners of STADIUMS LTD with John Wren an historical man with amazing achievements in Australia I explain in my website under a link called Stadiums.
Thanks John, you people are doing amazing work with Boxrec.
I have so much respect for it.
Best Regards in Boxing
