They don't treat this prospect (and he is still that) with the kid gloves that ours get treated with.
Suffered his first "black mark" on his record with a draw against Carlos Molina last month... who is a damn good up and comer in his own right - just 22 and only one defeat (a split decision over 4) on his resume.
I actually thought the draw was about right, I didn't score it - but it was one of those fights in which no-one deserved to lose. Molina was an excellent counter puncher throwing some good combinations. Chavez also threw some meety looking shots.
Look who Chavez is fighting at the end of the month.

Fair play, Chavez Jnr.
My post was complimenting him for taking on Molina again so soon after the drawn fight. I would have thought he would have avoided him for a bit untill he got a bit stronger.
Unlike his Father, I think Jnr is a slow burner - he looks about 12 and seems to be way off his man strength yet. I think he will come good, not as good as his father - but I think he will get close to the top if not reach it.
He is among the better prospects, IMO - just one they should take their time over. Thats why I think they are quite brave going in with Molina again.

Yes, it is quite hard to be a fraud - when you have done nothing that was a Fraud.
He was never Olympic champion, never said he would be a domestic champion in 5 fights, never claimed that we would win a world champion.
He has no amateur experience and is a young fighter - learning his trade. Said nothing more or nothing less, is it such a crime he has such a father.

Seen the fight, could have gone either way. Nobody dominated any session, very hard to seperate in every round. Thought it was fair. If I would have gone for anyone then maybe Chavez as he seemed the more hungrier, but Molina dug in some nice counters.Bollocks1984 wrote:Good move by Chavez. No messing around, just getting right back to work. I didn't see the fight with Molina, but I heard Chavez was a tad fortunate. Hopefully he'll put things right this time around.
Molina is a good fighter.
