So what happened then? They made ridiculous demands, got greedy and wanted to hand pick opponents thta's what.

Only Art Pellullo would work with them under their terms and his only decent fighter is a washed up Acelino Freitas. Remember when Freitas fought Corrales he swallowed and caused a big stink the world over.

Has the penny dropped yet?

This will be his first big fight on American soil, and it will give the US fans thier first glimpse of him in the flesh. If Freitas is his opponent, then it will be a winnable, fairly exciting match up.
In my eyes its just smart matchmaking, a chance to make a good impression on the US audiences.
Now if his next two opponents are no better than Frietas, then i'll be sorely disapointed.

Explain? Do you mean (Tszyu apart) his career will be defined as a cash making exercise?

Freitas was a good 130 was an average and fading 135 and will be a shot fighter at 140.

Smart matchmaking for who exactly, himself? yes, Art Pellullo and Freitas, yes, TV and the fans? Most definately not.

id rather see him fight freitas than gatti to be honest, dosnt matter really we are all just a tad too impatient for PBF or Cotto, that was never going to be his next fight.

but he will fight eventually the same way as he fought zoo when most said he wouldnt.

To me Freitas as his first fight as a headliner in the US is ok as long as he fights a 'big one' soon i think the criticism is harsh

Exciting match, but ya gotta favour Hatton with Freitas stepping up and all and being stopped by Corrales.If Ace is strong at 140, it could be different,but I don't think so.

but before he quit Freitas was doing ok against Corrales who imo hits a lot harder than Ricky.

if it leads to Floyd and Cotto (who is being written off far too quickly) then fine, he would still be the second toughest Hatton opponent to date (maybe 3rd after Magee)

I havent written cotto off, for my mind he is the 3rd best light welter out there and will only get better with age, the problem I think he has is that he is a welter now and is struggling with the weight.

ID GO STATESIDE FOR ANY OF THESE MATCHES

I said this was his first BIG fight on American soil, and it will be thier first chance to see him in the flesh. No-ones going to pay attention to a pasty, English prelim fighter, but they'll pay attention when a pasty, English, world champiom is fighting.

And yes, I did mean it was smart matchmaking for the Hattons, Pellullo etc. If he scores an impressive victory over a fighter with big(ish) name recocnition, and a reputation as a big puncher (albeit at a lower weight), he'll be at the forefront of fans minds, and they'll be screaming to see him in bigger fights.

I don't think they would make the match period.

Let's not forget that Maussa was picked for Vivian Harris as being an easy job and it was Harris who fucked up. Maussa was shite and Hatton struggled.

Not he worst match possible but nevertheless he put himself on the pedestal saying SN gave him too hard fights and he was going to do this and that, blah, blah, Blah....

No, he took too much persuading and wanted, demanded an extra £100k for him last time. Don't aim until you know the target!

FREITAS
COTTO
MANDATORY
WITTER - IF HE PROVES HIMSELF
PBF

If he were to do that then I think even the harshest Ricky critic would be happy
