Bigger name getting robbed?

Post by Ambling Alp »

There have many, many cases of a relatively unknown fighter getting cheated by the judges against a big name(i.e. champion, former chamipon, or atleast a contender).
However, can anyone remember any fight where the big name deserved the decision but the judges gave it to the less well known guy?
This has to be rare, but surely it has happened a few times.

Except Valuev deserved the decision.

It's strange to see them break an 80-year tradition over John Ruiz. Ring was also quick to call Ruiz-Holyfield I a robbery, and it called Ruiz-Golota a draw. I agreed that Ruiz should have won against Holyfield, and I guess a draw was acceptable, even given the point deductions, but I'm starting to wonder if there's something behind this pattern of behavior on Ring magazine's part. It's only ranked fighters ahead of fighters they lost to after a severely bad decision, like Foreman-Briggs, where the local commission admits an error.
Maybe they have gone back to selling rankings like they did in Loubet's day...
