Wright sacks Shaw.... Taylor vs Wright is on.

Taylor and Winky Wright will finally get it on, as Wright sacks Shaw during the negotiations.

Great news that this fight is on, but a worry is that we know how close Lacy is too Wright.

You can't have any sympathy for Wright after this. I doubt he'll get a shot at any of the middleweight titles now. Can't even imagine what was going through his mind.

Crazy decision, Shaw is one of the main players in American matchmaking these days. I always thought Shaw and Wright were tight, didn't foresee this happening, can't really see Wright's thinking behind it either.

Wright turns down Delahoya for 6million and now Taylor for more money and prestige than he'll get anywhere else. The new JMM. Not a Wright fan but I would of liked to see this, I think Taylors too quick, too big, too much reach, and hits too hard in combinations for Wright.

Although I don't know all the details, my initial thoughts are that Winky is a damned fool. He thinks just because a bunch of boxing writers and boxing insiders consider him a top 10 P4P fighter, that means he is a natural draw. Well sorry Winky, you may be a sight to behold for the boxing connniseur, but for everyone else, just like Hopkins, you're a damned bore.

Winky needs to take a risk, take the thinner end of the cut and use it as a springboard. Unlike Bernard, he isn't someone who has already dominated the middleweight division for years, he's moving up in weight to take on someone who like it or not, most casual fans will recognise as being the new middleweight main main.

Can't say I'm disapointed.

He's no doubt a great boxer, but trouble with Winky is there's no suspense involved in his fights. Like Pernell Whitaker, you always know the result before it happens: Winky UD.

Excellent news for the middleweight division.

Jermain Taylor is bringing a lot of respect to the middleweights taking on the formidable Wright straight after beating Hopkins twice. Such a refreshing change from boxers looking for soft defences.

Its a though he has forgotten his globe trotting past and wants to be considered a big player/main man. His style is not condusive to selling fights unless he is established as the divs undisputed No1, which he has yet to be.

When offers to fight ODLH and Taylor are turned down, he should really be thinking about all those assignments against Dodson, Foster and the like. He should have bitten of Taylor's management's hand to get this fight made.

when you think how great old fighters like Mike McCallum, Marvin Hagler and Eusebio Pedroza just got on with it and kept fighting this is vomit worthy. fighters seem too conscious of their marketability & finfancial worth these days. some guys can get their own way and do what the fuckk they want - DLH and Jones - but others seem to confuse craftsmanship with superstardom

how many of those PPV customers did WW bring in for the Tito fight? maybe i shouild rephrase that, with how many does WW think he persuaded to buy the fight?

anyhow, wouldn't Winky be worth more if he beat Taylor? one of those guys who have the face that fits just fine with the establishment...

Thank the lord - Wright changes his mind - patches things up with Shaw and signs to fight. IT IS ON.

Well, I suppose Wright had to have an ask around if any promoter could get him more money at his age.... but glad he has seen sence.

LETS GET IT ON.

Other Gary Shaw news - He has signed Vic Dahyrtian (spelling) the IBF Flyweight champion, who was scheduled to fight Kelly. So that could be interesting for the Irishman.

Winky changes his mind AND Juan Manuel Marquez has to eat a slice of humble pie, by taking on a kung fu expert in Indonesia for 30K!

Winky - Taylor could be this generation's Toney-McCallum (their first fight being one of the most gruelling & skilled middleweight fights ever)... the junior middle standout vs the young middle. i know this could be boring, but when you look at the extent to which Taylor must prove himself, combined with Wright's calibre & the fact that Winky isn't half as negative as an old Hopkins...you never know
