Think about it........"Hatton is going to fight in a 20k seater tent at Foxwoods" according to 'Don Vito' Pellullo.

1> How big must the tent be, is this possible?

2> Why a tent in May in Conneticutt?

3> How fornicating high and wide must this structure be, safety factor, no chance?

4> Hopkins, Hamed, Vinny Paz, Mayweather et al have fought at Foxwoods and are much, much bigger names in the US than Hatton and they have never needed anything other than the 4k internal arena. Perhaps Baldomir and/or Freitas have a large Indian following, not!

5> Showtime are not negotiating with Hatton FACT. Team Hatton and 'Fredo' Pellullo are using them as a bargaining tool to try and extort money from HBO so the likelyhood is the whole thing goes tits-up anyway or the Hatton's scurry back to Sheffield with their tails between their legs.

If Hatton has only sold 19k tickets for his biggest night supplemented by local under card boxers and agsint the P4P best in Kostya Tszyu how and why is a 20K tent neccersary in Conneticutt.

I smell some serious BS coming from the HMS Belfast and it's drifting up the the Thames, and belive me it's not the smell of a dead whale!!

Why jealous, it's just a logical thought and shows that they really had nothing to say of any real credability today.

i just dont think people can be bothered to stoop down to that level. most people wanna talk about boxing as fans instead of constantly criticising fighters they dont like for one reason or another.
good luck to hatton i hope he can get 20,000 fans to go see him fight in the states, that would be great for british boxing.

Was Hatton vs Tszyu sold out? Can the MEN only hold 19 K.

Geniune question, I've never been there so couldn't tell you the answer.

If the answer is yes and yes - then why not try a bigger venue.

I appreciate your questions on the health and safety about the structure of it - but wouldn't it be better to think as opposed to Hatton selling 19K in the MEN, but Hatton sold out a smaller venue - better try a bigger one.

Alot will depend on who is in the opposite corner, but if it is someone like Cotto then I don't think Hatton will have many problems selling out a 20K stadium in the states. He makes the opening credits of Showtime boxing coverage and is talked in the states quite frequently.

Alot of fans are going to want to see the lad fight in the flesh, especially in his debut. I don't know the figures, but Naseem Hamed certainly attracted a large turnout when he fought stateside - alot of it was due to fact that many didn't have a chance to see him untill then.

Like if England sold out Wembley to play Germany, it doesn't mean they wouldn't sell out Wembley to play Macedonia. Just they probably would have sold out Wembley twice (if they had a stadium large enough) for the German game.

Wonder if it'll be as wide as this thread.

Anyway, speaking of The Godfather, I was watching the third installment the other night (for the first time) and got a shock when, right at the start, Vito Antuofermo entered the screen as a hood!

He really looked the part - a real hard bastard was Vito in his ring days. Could mix it up with the best of them. Unfortunately, last I read, doctors found something amiss in a brain scan in recent times - 20 years after he retired. Not that this relates to any contemporary boxers or anything.

Good and valid points Stu but let me explain.

The MEN paying capacity is 19k. The MEN is in mAnchester where Hatton live and the undercard kids live too. A Hatton fight sold 10k in London and 9k in Newcastle withthe help of other big-local draws. Think about it, if Hatton only sells an average of 10k in Manchester for 'normal' fights how on earth is he going to sell 20k in a tent in Conneticutt? Do MAn City have a large follwing in Conneticutt or does Papa Ray sell the Indians Carpets. Get Real I say!

Hatton against anyone in the US Mayweather, Cotto or whoever would not draw 20k. Jesus, Tyson has never drawn 20k against Holyfield or Lewis!

Unless Hatton is fighting Osama Bin Laden then sorry the Yanks won't turn-up 20k handed.

Your other points are answered. It is Tszyu V HAtton 'The Fight' which makes to Showtime opening crdits not Hatton alone and Naz V Barrera sold 11k tickets at te MGM and 16k vs Kelly at MSG.

Granted you comments about Wembley but the FA have ready built stadium. They don't build another just for the Germany Games do they?

All in all I don't doubt that the fight will be in a tent but 20k seats

I have to say, I do think it highly unlikely that 20,000 people are going to turn up to see Hatton fight at foxwoods under any circumstances. For one thing the casino is in the middle of a forest on an indian reserve, and you have to get busses or trains to get there, it's not like vegas where there's an airport 20 minutes from the strip.

I don't know what the official figures Hatton was drawing

The other thing is that the big casinos rarely sell out even for big fights, let alone Hatton v Baldomir, which isn't exactly tantalising.

Much as it pains me to agree with the vitriolic Mr Chat, even a stopped clock is right twice a day I guess.
