More Hatton BS! Showtime, My Arse!

Post by boxingchat »

The HAttons say that they are in a bidding war between Showtime and HBO and that they will go with the highest bidder.....Poo this BS getting very smelly and HMS Belfast now has a brown clould raising above it and trailing all the way up the M1/M6 to Manchester.

They state that "Showtime have reserved 6th May and 3rd June"

However, they failed to reveal that those dates are already both allocated and up and running. A Showtime Execd said today; "Don King has 6th May contracted and 3rd June is contracted for Corrales V Castillo. In fact a senior Showtime insider said today "We are not interested, they know that. Hatton against Baldomir doesn't interest us at all. Hatton versus an Argentine with nine losses is not for us, it will not be on Showtime"

Did any truth come out yesterday?

HBO or Showtime it doesn't actually matter over here, all i'm interested in is will it be on SKY or ITV or another BRITISH channel.

As for who he's signed with , i don't care as long as the opponent is a quality one.

As you know Bullshit is a BIG part of boxing.

example allegedly saying that the winner of Skelton-Williams will be facing Valuev, when Valuev and Sauerland had heard nothing about it. How many times has Frank announced fights on cards that have never materialised, although he was selling tickets on the back of these alleged fights (Tak Vs Magee being the one that immediately springs to mind).

I know its not only Frank that does this sort of thing and I've become a fan of Franks since hes started putting on BIG fights (Harrison-Guzman, Skelton-Williams, Williams-Harrison, Lacy-Calzaghe), but the majority of promoters couldn't lie straight in bed

Yeah I'd guess this fight will be a hard sell. I don't care what belts the Argie holds, he hasn't got much chance of keeping them with Hatton. In fact it's the type of run of the mill fight Hatton was taking at the MEN 3 or 4 years back.

Everyone knows this, including team Hatton. Can't see them rushing to 147 if Antonio Margarito was waiting to greet them there, even if Ricky does say he "wants to prove he's the best at 147"

At least Maussa had a remote punchers chance, Baldomir doesn't even have that - no way it should be PPV.

I'll be dissapointed if Hatton isn't in with a BIG name after this proposed fight with Baldomir (PBF, Cotto, Castillo, Judah or Margarito would be acceptable)

I do wonder MW, this is the first genuine Welter Hatton will have faced, and Baldomir looks a rugged sort, strong at the weight, perhaps this has the potential to be a banana skin?

As you're not connected to anyone boxingtalk why not start a thread on how the bullshit about the winner of the Williams v Skelton fight getting a straight shot at Valuev started?

Valuev ACTUALLY said that himself to the BBC Radio 5, it's recorded and on record. oh dear you got that wrong #1  Takaloo and Eamonn Magee was signed and sealed until Magee decided, for reasons unknown, to pull out because the fight was in London. He annouced the fight at a Press Conference in London, his own manager is on record as being embarrassed and apologising. Wrong again # 2

Do you lot never realise that it's the fighters who invariably fornicate up the shows not the Promoters.

However, it's one thing for things to change but to announce something thatb is completely untrue whe the facts are there for all to see is insulting.

Just proves that it is the Hatton's, to coin your phrase who, 'who couldn't lie straight in bed'.

All will be revealed I am sure.

Looking at the state of Hatton yesterday he should be looking at a Light-Heavyweight shot. Accident waiting to happen crashing weight like that IMO.

I simply don't understand the need for the vitriol. You are obviously either a boxing journalist or employee of Sports Network, probably the latter.

Hatton fights for the undisputed welterweight title: that is a great thing for a British boxer to do: I don't care whether it is at a casino, Indian reservation or a tent: it is simply a great achievement.

Your careful choosing of facts when anyone dares to criticise Sports Network coupled with persoanl abuse for anyone that disagrees with you, smacks of the schoolyard.

For example, Warren announcing that the winner of Sketlon v Harrison would get a shot at Valuev was simply wrong when he made the statement. The fact that Valuev subsequently said that he expected to fight a British fighter this year (and these comments were swiftly rebuffed by his Manger) doesn't alter the fact.

I don't even blame Frank for doing this, he is a promoter and has a big arena to fill and lets face it, style wise it is probably going to be a dreadful fight.

Did Valuev not say that he wouldn't be fighting the winner of Skelton-Williams

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/4674152.stm

A spokesman for promoter allegedly told BBC Sport he was in talks with Valuev's camp about a possible match.

But Chris Meyer, head of Sauerland Events, said: "Neither Williams nor Skelton are on our shortlist.

"How could they be? Neither is rated by the WBA. We have not even had any communication regarding such a match."

With regards to Tak-Magee, It was common knowledge on the net that Magee had pulled out of the fight, but it wasn't publicly announced for some time after.

Remember Frank announcing that Skelton-Audley was signed and sealed?

There are definately other examples of Frank announcing fights before they'd been agreed  Was Harris-Hatton one of them?

Warren did not say this VALUEV DID. His manager is not Christian Meyer, what was it you said about facts? Undidputed Welterweight Championship? is Baldomir the undisputed champion, does he hold WBC/IBF and WBA titles? No.

Moreover, I am neither a journalist nor an employee of Sports Network so I suggest that when you (A Lawyer) makes statements you do get your facts right as that is your professional duty to do so. No wonder these Child Killers get off!

Oh dear.

It certainly does seem that boxingchat is right. as far as I can see this is a legit question. Perhaps people could just remove their feelings towards boxing chat in this thread and read it objectively. It's actually quite good.

I am not going to bother arguing with you as you choose which points to debate and what not to debate. I agree, Baldomir is not undisputed welter champ but is clearly now the man at the division. My mistake.

Warren claimed that the Skelton v Williams fight was an eliminator for the WBA heavyweight title. This is simply a lie.

Incidentally, given that I am clearly posting in a personal not professional capacity I do not have a duty to do anything on here.

PBF got 6800 for his fight with Mitchell, and he's America's Golden Boy of the moment. I don't think Hatton will get near the 15K you claimed. He'll only get that much if he is on the undercard. There isn't much of a Hatton following over here, so I doubt people would run to see him fight.

Warren said in response to Valuev's comments that the fight is "Effectively, a WBA eliminator". Wrong Again

In legal terms is that a lie or an observation?
