I would like informations on some fights.....

Bowe-Golota 1: Was it close? Or Golota was really beating the shit out of Bowe and the reason the scores werent so wide was because of the multiples points deduction?

Bowe-Golota 2: Again here, did Bowe do better?

Benn-Eubanks: Who deserved to win in your opnion?

Golata was winning it wasn't a beat down but Golata was beating Bowe in their first fight. In their second fight they could have stopped the fight in Golata's favor, he had Bowe hurt badly and surprisingly they didn't stop the fight.

I don't know of the other fight, which I didnt' see.

Bowe-Golota 1- Andrew was soundly outboxing and outjabbing Bowe throughout the fight, to my knowledge winning every round and steadily wearing the overweight Bowe down, but then he got in the low blows and the huge riot happened.

Bowe-Golota 11-Was more competetive but in round 2 many referees would've stopped the fight as Golota knocked Riddick down and afterwards was beating him badly against the ropes, with Bowe punching back JUST enough so that the ref didn't jump in. Bowe came back courageously in round 3 to win it and then in round 4 knocked Golota down and had him hurt. Bowe was hurt againt badly in either the 5th or 6th, and then the last few rounds before Golota fouled out were just brawling affairs with Golota almost always getting the better of it. Bowe didn't always fight the strongest challengers but he proved in the Holyfield fights and against Golota that he had a TON of heart and a pretty good chin. I think Bowe-Lewis in 1993 would've been a great fight, with Bowe doing what Lewis did to Bruno and stopping Lewis when he was behind on points.

Bowe was battered twice by Golota. Lewis destroyed Golota! And he battered Bowe in the Olympics! Bowe bottled it big time when he refused to fightLeiws and threw the belt in the bin! Absolutley ludicrous that you think Bowe would have beaten Lewis!

As for Benn-Eubank. The first fight Eubank won by stoppage. The second I had Benn winning but it ended in a draw. It was close but I think most people had Benn winning. Then he had a point controversially deducted in the 11th!

I was lucky enough to be ringside for both of the Benn - Eubank fights.

The first fight at the Birmingham NEC had an amazing atmosphere, the fight had received a LOT of hype in the media and it captured the publics imagination like few fights do in the modern era.

At this point in their careers these two guys REALLY hated each other with a burning passion. The fight itself was highly exciting and very competative, both guys shelled out and recieved a lot of vicious punishment and the fight swayed on way then the other untill with his eyes closing fast Benn was finally stopped on his feet by referee Richard Steele.

After the fight Eubank had to got to hospital as he required stitching to a nasty cut on his tongue. The next day it was later revealed that Eubank needed help to get out of bed and was passing blood due to the big hitting Benns body shots.

Years later Benn claimed that on the moring of the fight due to a mistake by a new dietician he had hired he was 7lbs over weight and had to go for a two mile run and then shadowbox fully clothed in a sauna to make the weight. Read into that what you will.

But it was a truely brutal fight.

The second fight a few years later (at Super-Middleweight) was held in the open air in Manchester. By this time Benn had learnt by his mistakes from his loses to Watson and Eubank and was a more contolled, thinking fighter than in his younger days. But make no mistake he was still the hard hitting, agressive Dark Destroyer. The fight itself allthough not quite up to the brutal affair of their first fight was still a gruelling, entertaining and very close fight.

Having said that from ringside I though Benn had done just enough to win and watching it tape I still stand by that.

Totally agree! Great post. I had Benn 115-113 after the point deduction so I guess I would have had it 116-112. After their first fight apparently both were in a bad way and spent a few weeks in and out of hospital. I must say I loved Benn and I was devastated when he lost the first fight. I think people under estimated Eubanks power. You know how much it meant to Benn cos he just broke down when the ref stopped it! But all in all it was a brutal fight. Can you imagine if it had gone on any longer or if was over 15 rounds?
