Who will Hatton fight in the USA?

Does anyone know when hatton's next fight will be announced? It was suposed to be last thursday and then moved forward to yesterday but still no news :( Also any ideas on who will he should and will fight??? Cheers

yeah i heard that but ther was also gatti(dont know why) and cotto and freitas and castillo/corrales on the outskirts. Dont no y its taken so long, but i think chasing mayweather n earning the belts would b his best move. Assuming of course he can beat baldomir. Hatton is a very small welterweight at 5'6 but i spose his stregnth n body type make up 4 it?

He admitted he turned down 2 offers last year from Mayweather to fight, saying he wanted two more fights before he would think about it. No mention of money at all. Makes you wonder if that fight will come off anytime soon.

just heard baldomir wants to much money. Could be Rabah. TV would pay good money for that. Still think Baldomir is in with a shot, but wants nearly $2m

Exactly, Baldomir is looking to cash out and he can get a lot more money with a lot less risk by fighting Gatti, who also wants Baldomir. Baldomir can fight Gatti with a potentialy large payday and follow it up with another large purse against Mayweather (if he gets by Arturo). Hatton is more risk and far less reward.

i dont think baldomir would beat gatti, hatton or even judah in a rematch!! this is his 15-miunutes of fame, so he may as well cash it in!!

Pellulo who Hatton is being copromoted by, uses foxwoods regulalrly. The company that promote Baldomir is run by an indian from the tribe that own the land the casino is on.

I had a feeling this fight was going to fall through, Baldomir was always going to want to be very well paid, and Hatton was too, Baldomir wants to make the most of his time with a belt, and probably feels he has a shot at beating Gatti.

Max are you nuts? Gatti is a HUGE name in the USA, whether he is washed up or not is irrelevant, they will be able to sell Gatti v Baldomir as a PPV. Hatton though likeable and easy to sell, doesn't have anything like the draw factor, few fighters do. Hatton is a big noise here, but he's not yet a major star in the USA.

There is also the consideration that perhaps Gatti was more flexible in negotiations than Hatton.

Gatti brings in big bucks. Regardless of what you think of him as a fighter in terms of his overall quality, he's one of the few known boxers here in the US. People that don't follow boxing know who Gatti is and watch his fights.

Say what you will, but I bet it will be Rabah, and always was Rabah and why simple he aint even good enough to win a British Title.

Think in terms of westerman and Delise being 8 out of ten Rabah is a 5, His opponent have been mediocre to say the least , remeber Kinuthai who Witter fought Rabah ain't much better.

Top fighters taking look at Hatton

Ricky Hatton's status in boxing, and as something of a cash cow, is evident given how many of the top super lightweights and welterweights are angling to fight him.
He's on the radar of Las Vegan Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is generally regarded as the best fighter in the world. Arturo Gatti, whom Mayweather defeated for the WBC super lightweight title last year, also is seeking a shot at Hatton.
And you can add welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir, former super lightweight champion Vivian Harris, WBO super lightweight champion Miguel Cotto, ex-lightweight king Jose Luis Castillo and former welterweight champion Zab Judah to the list.

"This is the position I've always dreamed of being in," said Hatton, who in May will fight for the first time in the United States since winning the IBF and WBA light welterweight titles last year. The bout is scheduled for the Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Conn., but Hatton's opponent won't be finalized until later this week.
"It was just 12 months ago that I was the one doing the chasing and looking for all the big names," Hatton said. "I guess now I'm universally recognized as No. 1 in the division and they're all looking for me. To be in a position where I can pick my opponents, wow, that's a fighter's dream, really."

Mayweather will meet Judah on April 8 at the Thomas & Mack Center in a welterweight bout.
Hatton doesn't expect any surprises in that fight.

"I don't think Judah can beat Mayweather," Hatton said. "Zab is a capable fighter and if Floyd is not on the top of his game, he could (lose). Zab Judah will stand off and do what he does best, which is to try to box Floyd, but in my opinion, no one in the world can outbox Floyd.
"Zab's fighting a losing battle, I'm afraid. It's not impossible, but you have a boxer going against a boxer there, and Floyd is just the superior boxer."

• NOT READY YET -- Count Top Rank's Bob Arum among those who are skeptical that Hatton will be fighting marquee names anytime soon.
Top Rank promotes Mayweather, Castillo and Cotto, all of whom have been mentioned as Hatton opponents.
Arum said Hatton, who is being courted by HBO, doesn't want those names just yet.

Arum said he expects Castillo to fight Cotto later this year after Castillo gets through his June 3 bout with Las Vegan Diego Corrales.
"Ricky Hatton is not going to fight a real opponent until he drains all the money out fighting secondary guys, in my opinion," Arum said. "That's why we decided not to go after him."
