"We have loads of offers from all the leading Promoters in the US"

"We're negotiating with the likes of Mayweather, Cotto, Gatti
"

"Both the major networks want Ricky and a bidding war is ensuing"

RAY HATTON - August, October and November 2005.

LAS VEGAS REVEIW JOURNAL - 20th February 2006

Top Rank exclusively promotes Mayweather, Castillo and Cotto, all of whom have been mentioned as Hatton opponents. Arum (FACT: Leading promoter) said Hatton, who is being courted by HBO (FACT: Showtime have not shown any interest whatsoever) , "doesn't want those names yet"

Arum said he expects Castillo to fight Cotto later this year after Castillo gets through his June 3 bout with Las Vegan Diego Corrales.

"Ricky Hatton is not going to fight a real opponent until he drains all the money out fighting secondary guys, in my opinion" Arum said. "That's why we decided not to go after him"

WOW!

Miguel Cotto's promoter says that at some unspecified date and time they made a decision not to negotiate with Hatton any more.

Miguel Cotto's promoter categorically does not say that there were no negotiations between the two camps.

Miguel Cotto's promoter seeks to promote his guy over another fighter.

It's 'hold the back page stuff' for sure...

Mate, this is weak, even by your standards

And using a 'FACT' to rubbish another claim is just preposterous.

Bob Arum: "Yesterday I was lying. Today I am telling the truth."

Sounds like Ray is getting the hang of this boxing business.

I'd get counselling if I was you, Hattons departure from SN has obviously left you with a number of deep-rooted unresolved issues.

Bob Arum is the biggest bullshit artist and flimflam man in boxing, he could't walk a straight line if he was on a tightrope with a 5000 foot drop on either side.

If Arum told me there was a heatwave I'd go buy snowshoes.

Really chat you need to find a new hobby, doesnt Frank have anything better for you to do???.... I'm no die hard Hatton fan, but even I find your constant snipes against Ricky rather boring. :x ..
Also as someone who works for a man who is almost pathologically suspicious of boxing forums such as this, it is rather laughable that you should use this forum as a platform to peddle your anti Hatton propaganda!.... :box: :box: :box:
I'm sure there are plenty of SN fighters who would prefer 10% of the attention that your boss is still giving wicky!!!....   8)

Yes laughable that FW throws his toys out of the pram as soon as he sees anything derogatory about him on these boards (lets be honest there is plenty of ammo) yet he is happy for his lackeys to post their anti Hatton bile all over the place. What a nob.

Exactly - why don't they try building up decent fighters on their books other than Khan and Hatton. If they'd done a good promotional job on Witter - ie got him a fight with Mitchell/Harris/Cotto they'd have a belt holder at the same weight who'd make a load of money for them.

For all the talk of number 1 in Europe, he'd be allot bigger if he hadn't neglected some of the prospects that he has in the past.

Hatton leaving SN wouldn't have hit them as hard if they didnt put all their eggs in 1 basket

Yes, Fwranks not half the promoter he seems to think he is, he only seems able to really concentrate fully on one fighter... first it was Naz, then Hatton now Khan... why are so many of his fighters forgotten men???.... his handling of Witter has been nothing short of a disgrace... Witter has spent his peak years chasing Hatton and trying to get meaningful fights... and this while he is connected to the so called number 1 promoter!!!... :box:

They never felt Witter was worth investing in, becuase he cant sell tickets.

I dont blame them either. Witter is very poor Box - Office wise.

Well I know a lot of Witter fans and had he got the fights then the crowds would have come in... also, surely it is the job of a promoter to make his fighter good box office... after all he's supposed to be promoting that fighter isn't he?.... if a boxer is bad box office then it is at least partially down to the promoter!...

Not true really. It's also part of a fighter's job to aid their promoter in making themselves marketable. For whatever reason, and I have never quite put my finger on it, the public have never seemed to warm to Witter. Look at how few times he's fought on his home turf....

I havent seen Witter fighting to too many empty houses... if he is so bad why has Hatton spent the best part of his career running away from him?. I'm sure one of the main reasons Warren 'promoted' Witter was to keep him and Hatton apart...

Posted: 21 Feb 2006, 10:02

I agree Warren didn't want his main ticket seller in with a loose cannon like Witter - too much risk for zero reward.

be interesting to hear Warren's take on it now - I asked him once on a conf call and he went through the roof.

Surely its the promoters job to promote and the boxers job to box - Witter is exciting in the ring. Hes been awfully promoted though. If a promoter cant promote a fighter hes really a fight organiser instead of a promoter.
