Looks like Witter is going to be fulfilling his EBU mandatory by fighting Lauri (again) on 28th April in Italy. Lauri is currently unbeaten in 10 although whether his chin has improved an awful lot I don't know.

How does this leave Witter regarding the WBC title? Does PBF actually have to fight (maybe even beat?) Judah in April for the LWW title to become officially vacant? DeMarcus Corley is currently #2 in the wbc rankings behind Witter btw.
Could Witter not get a fight for the Interim title or something like that? I'm sure he could if he had amore powerful backers. If Enzo gets to be tin cup Interim champ because Nelson is injured (despite making a mandatory defence in November) then surely Witter should muscle his way in somehow???
Everyone has got to admit, Witter-Hatton for all 3 titles would be absolutely outstanding. (This is not a cue for any shit either. Anyone starting "Hatton/Witter can't sell any tickets/fight/running scared. It's the WBU chief supporting fights against obscurely named Russians that sell the tickets. Hatton/Witter/his/her/handlers/Dad/Iranian chiropodist is to blame" will have their balls cut off.

I think you'll find Enzo will have the small task of beating the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight champion to aquire his 'tin cup'. Not an easy nights work, and shouldn't be belittled.jomothepure wrote:Looks like Witter is going to be fulfilling his EBU mandatory by fighting Lauri (again) on 28th April in Italy. As for Witter..... Fighting Hatton would be an all British match-up, and wouldn't be as good an earner as going stateside to figth the big boys for big bucks. I wish people would stop going on about Witter and Hatton, as it aint gonna happen. If Witter wants in on Hattons career, he should try and market it stateside. Personally I think Hatton would tear him a new arse Judah stylee. Shit Lenny Daws showed Witter up by destroying Lynes after he took Witter 12.

Fair comment Jimmy. The WBO thing I've over-sterotyped, although however high I'd rate Hobson, I wouldn't rate a win over him, plus Enzo's previous opponents, being world champion (or close to it) merit.JimmyJamJerusalem wrote:I think you'll find Enzo will have the small task of beating the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight champion to aquire his 'tin cup'. As for Witter-Hatton - as you say, there are far bigger fights, financially and from a talent point of view, that Hatton could persue. However, the prospect of two Britons fighting for the unification of the "big three" titles is still immense, for me at any rate. I'm not particularly au fait with the Holyoaks storyline between these two. Just the faint prospect of it that interests me, however optimistic

Interesting to see how Witter does against Lauri now, his Lauri wins is 1 of his better wins so if hes slipped you'd expect Lauri to do better.
Jimmy your talking bollox, Hatton would make more fighting Witter here than he'll make fighting anyone other than Gatti/Mayweather/Cotto/Corrales/Castillo/DLH - guess what in the next 6 months he can't fight any of those - no one else will sell aswell PPV & crowd wise in Britain as Hatton-Witter. Its fornicating huge. In the US only those 6 fighters are a real draw around 135-147, anyone else stateside is meaningless if were talking in terms of money. And if Ricky would have beat Witter so easily he would have made the fight.

Hatton Vs Witter in a unification could net big bucks if marketed right.
Firstly you'll have American PPV, probably HBO by the sounds of things. That brings in a good bit of cash and they will take the fight especially if they get Hatton contracted.
Then you have UK PPV in Sky Box Office that will probably rake in a lot of cash on its own.
With 3 titles up for unification and maybe a decent undercard tacked on you could hold it in the City of Manchester stadium and sell it out as the biggest fight in British history which it would be when you consider the prize has never been so big between 2 british fighters. A full stadium will bring in a bigger attendence and gate receipt that Hatton has never seen.
Then is Witter does the unthinkable and actually beats Hatton then I could see big money in a rematch as well.

Hopefully Witter comes through the Lauri fight with no problems, then in the summer maybe fight for a vacant WBC belt if PBF beats Judah or even the WBO belt if Cotto moves up. I hope to god he doesn't go the WBO route
Witters in a funny situation though at the moment, ranked highly but not getting the major fights he deserves, all he can do is keep winning & not slip up.
