I only use paypal for buying and selling stuff on ebay. Nothing major, just a few pounds here and there.

This morning I got an e-mail from them saying:

We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information about your business to allow us to provide uninterrupted service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

March. 08, 2006: We have observed activity in this account that is unusual or potentially high risk.

I really don't know what that's about, but fair enough, I'll soon find out I thought. So I clicked on the link it provided for the "resolution center." After asking for my usual e-mail and password to log in to paypal, it then directed me to a "security measures" page. This is asking for my card and account details, plus my ATM pin code. This is what got me thinking. Why do they need my pin code?

I've heard of a couple of people who've had their accounts cleaned out by scammers and stuff through paypal, though I don't know how.

Has anyone had anything like this themselves. Is this legit or not?

Steer well clear mate. I get plenty of those. I must say they look more professional now than they used to but nobody legit is going to ask for details like that over an email.

NO it is a phishing attempt, do not login using the link provided in it, just delete it.

Anything asking for an ATM pin-code is fake, and illegal.

Delete it.

I've sent an e-mail to paypal alerting them of the suspected fraud e-mail.

I'll phone the bank too, alerting them to the fact that scammers may attempt to hack into my account and try to pay off my overdraft.
