6th round of Jezzamundo's dream heavyweight tournament
Results from the 5th round are:
Ali KO8 Foreman
Louis KO8 Tyson
Holmes TKO12 Lewis
Frazier SD12 Maricano
So the points table reads:
1. Louis 15 points
2. Ali 9 points
2. Holmes 5 points
4. Foreman 3 points
5. Frazier -7 points
5. Lewis -7 points
7. Marciano -9 points
7. Tyson -9 points
The next round of fights are:
Ali vs Holmes
Louis vs Foreman
Maricano vs Tyson
Frazier vs Lewis
Remember, this is a premier league style event and not a knockout competition. Once all fighters have fought each other twice the tournament is over and the fighter with the most points is the ultimate champion! Fights are 12 rounds, not 15, and fighters use 10 ounce gloves (not that I think that would make a real difference to any of the fights). For those who didn't read the first topic, these are 7 of my top 8 all-time heavies, I rate Tyson 12th from memory, but I found him just too interesting a fighter to leave out. The points system is as such:
KO win = 3 points
Decision win = 1 point
Draw = 0
Decision loss = -1 point
KO loss = -3 points
Ali KO8 Foreman
Louis KO8 Tyson
Holmes TKO12 Lewis
Frazier SD12 Maricano

2. Holmes 5 points
4. Foreman 3 points
5. Frazier -7 points
5. Lewis -7 points
7. Marciano -9 points

Ali over Holmes UD Surpurlatively crafted fight by both men...Ali just has more skills and tricks to pull out of the box than Larry.
Foreman Louis Draw....Pacquio/Marquez style
Marciano over Tyson SD Bloody god awful beating Mike takes in the later rounds after Putting the Rock down. Depending on the judges this could go either way.
Frazier over Lewis KO round 9 Hustle over Muscle for me, He'll crowd Lennox and work the body and Lennox won't be able to Ward him off the way Foreman could.
None of these are easy for me and as far as I'm concerned anything could happen. I have to admit I like my imaginitive and controversial Foreman Louis Draw. However in my mind Louis solves the puzzle and dominates the next two fights just like he would dominate the last third of this theoretical in my mind. He just doesn't come in with a winning fight plan and has to change mid course to get the draw and then knows what to do for all future encounters. Hey that's my take. My thinking should bring Jaclem out of his cave to take potshots at what he will assess as my obviously deteriorating grey matter...
As for Mike I have just lost so much faith in Tyson it's probably not fair to him. If someone could suggest his 3 best performances that went over 6 rounds, I promise I will go back and watch them and try to "recalibrate" my thinking on him. I can not completely explain why the bottom has dropped out of his stock for me.

Ali UD Holmes <-- The teacher shows his pupil how to stick and move
Louis KO 8 Foreman <-- Possible to go either way, but Joe puts his together better than George
Tyson Draw Marciano <-- I cant figure this one out for the life of me. I said Marciano late TKO an another post, but who knows. Id love to see it!
Frazier KO 5 Lewis <-- After avoiding about 50 Left Hooks, Lewis finally gets caught...."Down goes Lewis, down goes Lewis!"

off the top of my head I would say his fight against Ribalta was the first time he had to deal w/ adversity (a man refusing to get KOd). great showing for Ribalta. Im too lazy to look for 2 more.BoxBuzz wrote: As for Mike I have just lost so much faith in Tyson it's probably not fair to him.
