David Fergus - amateur who was shot in late 80's

Anyone know of a London based boxer by the name of David Fergus. He was an amateur boxer who was shot in the head at a nightclub.

Apparently according to people from the area I have talked to he was a very promising amateur who was about to turn professional when at the age of 23 he was shot in the face with a shotgun and left for dead.

He lives near me, and I was introduced to him the other day., and just wondered if anyone on here remembers him or is familiar with his story?
