Sandy Saddler vs. Alexis Arguello at featherweight

Post by Grimm »

Two tall lanky featherweights with lot's of power, who would win.

Im gonna lean toward Saddler since he's never been KO'd.

This would have been the largest Featherweight that Sadler would have ever faced. Arguello would have put up as good a showing as possible but it wouldnt have been enough to beat Sadler at 126. Id go with a decicive decision win for Sadler as Arguello stays out of major harms way.

I suspect Saddler could rack up the points and "science" his way past Alexis, but the size and perhaps power difference makes for a nervous prediction. I tend toward the greater "artist", but damned if they don't occasionaly get knocked out by some guy who didn't understand the rules of the game. Not that Alexis was lacking in finesse on occasion.

I like Saddler Ud 15. Hangs with Arguello on the outside . Roughs him up on the inside.

I'd go for Alexis on points... I think he'd be too clever and powerful for Saddler... I think Arguello is rather underrated these days... great tactician who could wait and wait till he got you... I don't see Saddler being able to rough him up and Arguellos reach would keep Sandy on the outside and stop him getting control of the fight....

...silkov....i haven't checked so maybe i'm wrong (hah..as if!)....but i doubt if arguello had a longer reach than saddler....who was very tall for a featherweight.

either way...i'd go with saddler....good outside...murder inside...and great chin. i like arguello a lot...and he mght be able to outbox saddler....but....if i had to bet...i'd pick saddler. he fought a lot of lightweights and held the junior lightweight title when no one paid attention to that particular nonsense.

you will notice that i actually stuck to my prediction..saddler...whereas buzzbox is all over the place and picks both..and then neither....as the subject makes him nervous.

Arguello had one of the best chins I've seen and his record is just full of dangerous fighters... though Saddler had the more fights I think opposition wise Arguello has the edge... I just see Alexis having too much for Sandy... hell of a fight though...
