Irish Jimmy Cone

Post by Gs Of Irish Jimmy Cone »

I am trying to update my grandfathers record on this site. Jimmy Cone and Jimmy Conn are the same fighters. Theses were just the 2 names my grandfather used. Also his place of birth is Kokomo, IN. Not Cherry Palins, NC. Cherry Point, NC is were he began his boxing career. This was in the Marine Corps. My grandfather also boxed approx 50 pro fights.

:TU:

Do you have his date of birth/death, stance, height, reach, or his manager and trainer?

Thanks.

I do have that information. Just not with me right now. My grandfather is still alive. He was born 11-24-1924.

My grandfather boxed for John/Johnny Abood. Abood owend some sort of fabric weaveing factories. I looked through some of the news paper articles today. It shows that he boxed Red Barton from Arkansaw city OK, Walter Tankins on 3-8-49 in St.Louis, Doyle Hirts from Benton Harbor Mi, Buster Miles IN, Chuck Hensel, Jimmy Sanders on 1-5-48 and cliff fossmon 1-24-49. My grandfater and Lavern Roach were good friends. My grandfather fought on Joe Louis ticket in TX. I do have newspaper clippings and pictures showing this. Some show him as Conn and some as Cone. There is even one with Cohen. One of his NY boxing licences show both names cone/conn. My grandfathers oldest brother is Mickey Cone who also fought professionally.Mickey also used Cone and Cohen. I hope that i can correct some of this inaccurate information on this site. I can provide copies of newspapers and copies of actual event programs if needed.
