White Collar boxing

Any of you tried white collar boxing? I was thinking of having ago but dont know much about the scene. I live in the south west of England, but cant find much info about clubs or websites

Will they let you join with Amateur Boxing experience?

Just fancy beating up some (#ankers) i mean bankers like my Natwest manager!

Quite a few guys from my old university ABC have given it a go in London, some with some success (one was the 'world' light heavy champion a few years back), and they've all said really positive things about it. But it seems to be mostly around bigger cities (London in particular) with large white collar / frustrated sportsman communities - not sure about the South West.

We have it in the U.S. Its becoming more popular, I believe that the boxers just train amongst themselves at various gyms. The last time I went to a white collar boxing show, I witnessed something I never saw before. When the two boxers got in the ring, the referee said the hell with it and climbed out. There was no way he was going to officiate this particular fight. The reason: The fighters each had to be at least 65 years old.

I wasn't looking to train, i am a carded amateur boxer & just wondered how the whole scene worked.

I checked out the real club website, i phoned the number, you get to hear the bloke off Eurosport @ £1.50 per min, so i didnt stay on the phone,

Anybody who has actualy done it can pm me with some info!

DON'T join the Real Fight Club.

I do have an interest to declare as i work with Cityboxer but i expect guys like KO Artist will know all about the history of the guy who runs it - Alan Lacey. Try finding someone with a good word to say about him. I joined there at first but got wise there are dozens of others who also made the same move from RFC to CB.

Amateurs will probably not be allowed to compete outside of exhibitions but they'd be welcome to train and help train others - at Cityboxer anyway.

I joined as a white collar boxer coming up for 2 years ago now and enjoy training regularly and sparring. I'll get around to having another bout by the summer too.
All the matchmaking is done inside the gym so that fights are fair & competive based on weight, fitness & ability.
