Boxrec Lb for Lb ratings

Are the boxrec Lb for Lb ratings done by a points system or by personal opinion by the editors?

Anybody who thinks Wladimir Klitschko is Lb for Lb better than Mayweather, Winky Wright, Hatton, Barrera, Calzaghe, (the list goes on) needs there head checked!

Also why do they not put any of the Flyweights in the Lb for Lb? Lorenzo Parra, Jorge Arce, Vic Darchinyan at least one of these should be in with a good shout.

You are right Jamie, the Flyweights are criminally underrated. Add Ponsaklek Wonjongkam to that list as well mate, Arce always gets his job done and deserves a shout and Lorenzo Parra won three title fights on the road last year yet wasn't even considered for fighter of the year...shocking :(

It's a points system, which there's an explanation of knocking around elsehwere, but basicaly goes on quality of oppo fought and what you did against them. And that oppo is 'scored' on the same thing. Which has its obvious flaws.

Flyweights get a less good deal because a lot of them are Far Eastern, and their opponents either started out as non-pure boxers or had earlier fights just missed, hence fewer points for beating them. Hence also the tendency for a young Brit / US prospect to scoot up the rankings, given their oppo is better logged. Kevin Mitchell being a case in point. Top 20 in the world or something I thought I saw.

On points, Parra is actually scored at 1503 at time of writing. Alex Arthur is on 1506. Acelino Freitas, the last place chap in the top 25, is a good 100 points ahead of them both. You see the flaws...

You are right Jamie, the Flyweights are criminally underrated

..... and the heavies criminally overrated. Quite generally, if you are from one opf the classical divisions it seems easier to get a good pfp-rating, even though the guys who are doing the rankings strictly deny this.
