HATTON EXCUSES
HATTON EXCUSES
Not looking to start a rumble but reading a lot of the posts on various sites with all sorts of excuses for Hatton. People are blaming Collazo being a southpaw, Hatton not being a welterweight and even problems with his former promoter.
Good luck to Ricky for adding another belt but he has struggled in consecutive fights now. He shouldn't be let in the same area code as Mayweather let alone ring.
His budweiser, guinness and burger lifestyle is catching up with him. Great fighters can't blow up to 13-14 stone in between fights and keep getting away with it.
Look like Hatton was in the right place at the right time when Warren fought Tszyu
If he insists on staying welterweight, he should hold onto the belt and take the Urkal fight. It would be a win for good money by European standards and give Hatton more time to develop into a natural 148lb fighter.
And even more imprtantly keep out of the PUB!

Shrewd move that bringing Tszyu over even if they had to give him a kings ransom.chris s wrote:Not looking to start a rumble but reading a lot of the posts on various sites with all sorts of excuses for Hatton. Hattons lifestyle could finish him. At welterweight he will be in much more physically demanding fights and the punches hurt more.
Margarito get in the ring at 11st 11lbs for example.
Hattons beer and burger culture could see him anding up like Matthew Hilton.
well, to be fair, what proper welter has mayweather ever faced? for that matter, how many non-shot light welters... maybe ricky's near miss should make us wonder whether mayweather, a peak 130, could fend on a monster like margarito for 12 rds, amazing skills or no. (also, interesting how ineffective margarito was at 154 with santos)chris s wrote:sorry mr jugs, mental sums letting me down converting stones and poundsBigEars wrote:your knowledge was summed up when you said 148 , the weight is 147 :P .
hatton struggled for a couple of rds before outclassing and wiping out maussa. some bad early rds led to a complete performance - I mean last night, that was a nerve shredding type of struggle. he should definitely move down to light welter, as at that weight he can get away with more, and stay away from awkward southpaws with good right hooks

I watched the fight @ my local gym this morning, and I felt Hatton did enough to win the fight, but it was not a conclusive performance by Ricky at all. The jab, which sets everything else up, was virtually non-existent.
I also feel Ricky needs to adopt a different approach when he's not training for fights. Putting on weight and then losing it, the way Ricky does, cannot be good for the human body, no matter how good you prepare, how hard you train etc.
Imagine when/if Ricky fights Floyd Mayweather. Ricky may well go into camp well over-weight i.e. like he was at the start of his training for Tszyu, where-as FM will not be worrying as he will already be there or there abouts with his weight, therefore able to work on his skills, strategies etc.
Billy Graham and Ricky have a tight relationship, so I feel as his trainer, Billy should try to make Ricky see sense in his lifestyle away from training. All the junk food, alcohol is no good for you.
Hatton is a very lieable person, a down-to-earth man who does not believe he is above anyone else just because he's rich and been successful in Boxing. I hope he achieves all he possibly can from boxing. I hope Ricky wins everytime he fights.
He needs to get a grip of his lifestyle away from training, more-so if he stays at 147lbs. As KO Artist stated, the punches will be harder at Welter & fights more gruelling.
Oh yeah, does Magarito really enter the ring around 11st 11lbs (165lbs)? That's around 18lbs gain from the weigh-in!
I've been saying this about Rickys lifestyle for ages regarding him blowing up etc between fights... his people shouldn't just be thinking about his boxing career but about the long term damage to his health from such a lifestyle..... Duran got away with it but there aren't many Durans in the world..... as it is if he stays at 147 I fear he will start putting even more weight on because of the fact that he'll be thinking he's got less to lose....Rocky Balboa wrote:

There is a former world champion who posts on here occasionally. He is in Margarito's camp. I think he advises him on finishing when he gets a guy in trouble.Rocky Balboa wrote:

He said Margarito walks around at 175lbs and can run 15 miles no problem.

Boy, if that's true, then he must mean Magarito can run 15miles when he's @ fighting weight or close to it. Now way is he running that distacne at his normal pace when he's around 175lbs.
Magarito is massive for 147lbs, and he's strong and powerful. By yesterday's performance, I would not want to see Hatton fight Magarito.
for me this one is in the mind. if hatton fights like he did last night then this will be a foreman v. frazier, where no matter how gutsy ricky is, he wont be able to take accumulated punishment from the stronger man. However i think ricky's performances in some past fights show that if he uses his head, he can outbox a guy. He can beat margarito, and if he uses his head, he would. Hatton is a smart fighter.silkov wrote:Margarito would ko Hatton imo...
oooooh good comeback. thank god for people like you on here to show us the error of our ways. Seriously tantum, if you have something to say, back it up, everyone thinks you're an idiot if you try to make a point without giving any evidence. ricky could have baldomir imo! in my mind theres no question about that, baldomir has an average style that ricky could figure out inside 2.
Well thats your opinion, people were saying Ricky would take out Collazo in 5 or 6 now see what happened... Rickys not as good as you think he is...mattym wrote:U WHAT!!!silkov wrote:I don't... ummm... you cant say that because you dont know how good i think he is! dont put opinions in my mouth (if thats possible) i never thought collazo would be out in 5 or 6, it was obvious to me it would be a difficulty (understatement of the year) to use his style on a strong welter, with polished skills.silkov wrote:Well thats your opinion, people were saying Ricky would take out Collazo in 5 or 6 now see what happened... I think that Hatton would find Judah a really akward fighter and think that he would have major problems up until rd4-6 then he would just overpower him. I would also think that Judah would see Ricky as a soft touch - just a hunch I have... I'd love to see this fight as I think that Judah is a fantastic boxer to watch.mrbassie wrote:Can you see Ricky beating Judah like Baldomir did? Guys; My opinion is that we cut Ricky a little slack.. the first fight at a new weight isnt the most appropriate time to judge him.... Normally its takes a bit of time to get used to the new weight....
So he didnt look great last night by all accounts... lets see what happens next time...
look at de la hoya V Castillejo and then against Vargas/Mayorga for example..

Yeah but Vargas and Mayaorga aren't as good as Castillejo.... Vargas was about as overrated as Hatton is now....knockout wrote:Guys; My opinion is that we cut Ricky a little slack.. the first fight at a new weight isnt the most appropriate time to judge him....
