Big Satelite "porn" dish questions.

Post by stujones »

Sorry for dragging this old topic again, I couldn't find the archive posts on this.

Really thinking about getting one of these now, a seperate dish though from the Sky - just wandering if the likes of Real Deal or Mighty Warrior can explain whats the settings and dish size they recommend.

Also, would be really appreciative if the as many European posters as possible can just state names of channels that show boxing. Whether you don't think they are available here or not is irrelevant - I have found some good sites listening potential channels, so I can search that myself - just list the channels.

Edit: Just been reading that with some dishes, UK resisdents can get some Japanese/Korean stuff - so the channels that show the boxing there will be great too.

Finances are not great at the moment, but I have decided to go for this - and yes, its stricly for the boxing, so I would like to get this "right" before splashing the money.

All help appreciate.

Stu.

Why do you call it a "porn" dish - but you want it for boxing? ;)

The channel 'TV1000' used to be the bollocks. I think it was Swedish. You could get some proper quality porn and it would always show the big PPV fights live (US and UK) for free.

In this day and age you can get it all and more through your internet connection apparently - cant see why anyone would get one for porn these days.

Can't post the link for old topic at moment Stu, due to that spam link issue - but do a search under key word HOTBIRD in Brit forum and you'll find the info :TU:

Cheers, I had a read - still a bit confused.

Do you know what the difference is between Hotbird 1, Hotbird 2 etc.... According to most sites, you have to allign your satellite to a certain angle (13 degrees east) to get Hotbird 1 - its the same though for all the other Hotbird "thingys" (sorry, no idea what is the correct term - but Hotbird 2, Hotbird 3 etc). But then when I do a list of channels, Channels on Hotbird 2 are not on Hotbird 3.

Did you know, that if you've got a big dish it can be aligned so you can get ESPN for nout.

On Astra 19.2E there are (at least) 4 free channels showing boxing: ARD, DSF, MDR & ZDF.

13.0: Polish(?) channel TVN shows national and internatiol boxing, channel is free. RAI Sport is also free

5.0E: TV1000 is no longer showing boxing, but some of its sister channels shows boxing. Most of it is on Viasat Sport 3. They show every Warren card (Often different undercard than SKY), they show some HBO cards (The ones HBO holds the international rights to. They sometimes also shows Sauerland cards from start to end. (I dont think you can get codes for it)

1.0W: Here DK4 shows danish boxing and Fight + shows international boxing

Thanks for that, I have read that you can get a devise (Monoblocker or something like that) that enables you to flick from Astra to Hotbird etc - without you moving the dish.

I'd still need a bit more knowledge on it before I make a purchase - like the difference between the Astra 1A, 2 etc and the difference between the Hotbird.

Any ideas of french boxing channels - I know the big december bill in Paris was televised - any idea of the channel?

It was on Canal + Sport (Or Sport + or something like that), they show most big french cards.

Yes, the Polish channel TVN (national tv channel, not satelite) shows all the big fights from Las Vegas live, but only from Vegas, none from New York or elsewhere in the US. It also shows all of Tomasz Adameks fights (Polish WBC light-heavy champion) plus some of the big fights from Germany (Klitscko etc).
