Danny DiLiberto

Post by Tantum »

My father knows an ex-boxer who said he was 15-0 in the late 50's/early 60's maybe, and was trained by Angelo Dundee, when my father told me he couldn't find his friend on boxrec, I told him that he must have been a 15-0 amateur...

But my dad brought home a newspaper clipping mentioning this boxer, Danny DiLiberto, 15-0 (As a pro, lightweight) and was trained by Dundee... There is nothing of him in the records.

There's a good chance someone is lying, we have entered a lot of stuff from that era. A 15-0 guy like that would have compiled some sort of record in this database, in all likelihood.

Looking at newspaperarchive.com, there was a Danny DiLiberto that was a competitive pool player during the 1970s out of Miami.

http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/news/arc ... 001958.htm

"Danny Diliberto was a lightweight boxer who was undefeated in 15 professional fights during the late 1950’s fighting mostly in the state of Florida. He was trained by the legendary Angelo Dundee who recently remarked, “Danny was a heck of a fighter and whoever I put in front of him he knocked out. If it weren’t for his brittle hands he would have been a champion”. Diliberto is best known for being a City, State and 4-time world pool champion."

Someone is being fooled here, and I doubt it is us. Unless, he was using another name or fighting in some obscure locale in the Caribbean, he should be in the database.

Ahh I found it.

He fought under the name of Dan Toriani

We have him at 12-0-2 though (supposedly has 15 fights with no losses)
