Danny McAlinden Question.

Post by KOJOE90 »

Does anyone know the reason why it took Danny McAlinden the best part of 3 years to make the first defence of his British Heavyweight Title?

Was he injured? Or was it managerial/promotional issues etc?

Any information fight fans?

I do not know the answer to your question, but I see Danny now and again. He's still in devent shape for a man of his age... he also looks like he could still have a real go too. :box:

After destroying Jack Bodell(and i REALLY mean destroy)to claim the British and commomwealth titles with typical 2 fisted hitting.Dannyhada number of injury setbacks, afight aginst bunny johnson had to be cancelled later in 1972,and bouts against ,Joe Bugner(british-commonwealthtitles)offered£60,000.,and a fight against George Chuvaloboth cancelled1973.
Danny was even offered to fight on the undercard of theFrasier-Foreman fight, but again had to withdrawdue to hand injuries.
When he came to defend his titles against Bunny Johnson in1975,danny was rushed into the fight by the British Boxing Board of Control, having not recovered from yet other hand injury.
As Danny boy said a few years back"Had i been Henry Cooper,i would have been given enough time.
