I was scratching my head when I heard sky had brought this show, until I read the following on fightnews.com:
HBO will show a replay of Maskaev vs Hasim Rahman next Saturday at 10:05PM/ET/PT followed by the previously announced live welterweight face off between Paul Williams and Sharmba Mitchell from Reno, NV.
Hopefully this will mean that we get the apparently excellent Maskaev vs Rahman clash as well as the mediocre Williams - Mitchell match.

I'm actually well up for this match (Williams vs Mitchell). Perhaps I'm the only one, but I've seen Mitchell look alot more rejuvenated since his move up. He looks surprisingly stronger and he caught Mayweather (albeit an over confident Mayweather) one or two times more than I expected.
Williams looked good last time and I think the winner kinda deserves a title shot. Although, it would look a bit silly if Mitchell was a belt holder and Mayweather not. Not that I'm picking Mitchell put its a toughie to call.

The ageing Mitchell got bashed up and stopped in four by the sounds of things last night.stujones wrote:I'm actually well up for this match (Williams vs Mitchell). A poor fight for HBOs Boxing After Dark and a very strange fight for Sky to buy IMO.
Lets hope the show comes with the delayed showing of Maskaev - Rahman or they could have a lot of time to kill in the studio
Just caught the Mitchell fight.
The result tells it all. He got demolished in 4.
He hit Williams easily with wild rights, but they just bounced of his face.
In the end, Williams was knocking down Sharmba will inside of glove cuffs.
4/5 KD in total I think.
These way down / way up fights can sometimes be great (like Haye V Thompson), but this was too one sided. Mitchell looked embarassed and frustrated at the end.
