Who next for Witter?
Lets hop he doesn't lose momentum and fights more often now, 3 times a year would be good.
1. Hatton - this is the fight I'd like to see. Witter-Hatton would be much bigger than Hatton-Urango. After Witters previous 2 fights, I thought Hatton would take him down late. Now after Witter proved he can work for 12rounds and Hatton showed he has a problem with slick fighters (Collazo) I think Witter ko's him or UDs him.
2. Mbaye - if he could unify, not only would it be a big achievement, it would force Hatton into the ring with him. Another counter-puncher, so could be another tactical none exciting fight though
3. Castillo - probably fighting Hatton, but maybe Witter can steal his fire by getting in with Castillo earlier
4. Corrales - Corrales may be made for Witter, he walks forward looking for 1 big shot and doesn't too well with slick counter punchers. I think Witter by KO early. Would look impressive.
5. Judah 2 - could be boring, and probably a 50-50, but Witter may now fancy his chances to KO Judah.
6. Viv Harris - big risk, little reward. Would be a good fight and winnable
7. Freitas - good name and beatable especially at 140
8. Juan Diaz - WBA lightweight champ, so much pressure, allot of skill, would be a tricky fight
9. Malignaggi - got a good name, slick but Witter could bully him
10. Maussa - could he beat him better than Ricky? Not an interesting fight really
Who else is there? 140 doesn't have the biggest names if none of these materialise.

Here the WBC's top 15:-
1 .- Junior Witter (GB) COMM
2 .- DeMarcus Corley (US)
3 .- Vivian Harris (US)
4 .- Lovemore Ndou (South Africa)
5 .- Herman Ngoudjo (Canada) NABF/INTL
6 .- Juan Lazcano (US)
7 .- Marcos Maidana (Argentina)
8 .- Norio Kimura (Japan)
9 .- Arturo Morua (Mexico)
10 .- Jungbum Kim (Korea) OPBF
11 .- Sataporn Singwangcha (Thai) ABCO
12 .- Steve Forbes (US)
13 .- Cesar Cuenca (Argentina)
14 .- Americo Santos (US)
15 .- Paul Malignaggi (US)
Maybe Witter may want one of these before going into a big fight. Maybe a fight with the Contenders Steve Forbes
I personally think M'baye may the the next fight

I think a lot would hope that at least some sort of deal can be struck so that at least two of the three Brits (at any rate M'Baye being British based/promoted) can unify, pressuring the third into the ring too. How plausible any of that would be in practise is another story, but is still one hell of a pipe dream.
Harris is I think next in the WBC rankings, and 'ol Lovemore is around there too.

I think Witter would beat Judah now. Witter beat Corley by a pretty big margin. Judah scraped by with the SD...
Anyhow, who is the WBC top contender?
Hatton's going to beat Urango. He'll be IBF champ & his #1 is Vivian Harris. However, Harris also will be made Witter's #1 as VH was #3, below #1 Witter & #2 Corley. N'dou is after Harris.

If Witter is granted the grace of a voluntary (cant remember if he will or not after winning a vacant belt?) someone like 'The Hispanic Causin Panic' would be a good match in my eyes.
Well known in the states and a former lightweight, Luzcano was, and I believe is once again, with Golden Boy (with whom Hennessey has links). He is well placed in the ratings at 6, would come to Witter with pressure, but hasnt been in a big fight for some time so may be a little rusty?
That would be my pick from the WBC top 15.

140-lbs looks like a great division:
Hatton
Cotto
Witter
Harris (looks like he's all the way back)
M'baye (one of the smoothest boxers in any weight class)
Rabah (very tricky, good mover)
Urango (should at least make for hgood fights, though he is limited)
I'd love to see Olusegun get another breakthrough

I see it more as an undercard fight, if your expecting the main event not to go the distance in a pretty boy show then you could put that one on the under card. I recon Witter would wanna prove he can KO Judah this time too.TerribleTerry wrote:It would have to be off TV - no TV exec would pay to see them pair 'go at it' again!!josh fg wrote:Witter Judah II in the United States whould be my choice. Judah aint looking as sharp and Witter can win it, that would get rid of the deamon round his neck too. Common DLH get it together.

Pity Gatti cannot make lightwelter anymore. That would have been ideal for everybody concerned. Witter gets reintroduced to the American public facing a come forward fighter who's face is his first line of defence. Even Junior can't balls that one up. Gatti has one last shot at a world title with the oppurtunity to go out on a winning note infront of his fans.
Oh well you never know and the WBC always did like Arturo.

I can see the big-ish names gunning for other title holders & Witter - with his sheer awkwardness & fussy, unorthodox skills - holding a title for a long time. The power and reflexes will help out, too.Twinkle Toes wrote:Hattons the only fight out there imo - I don't think Witter will hold onto that belt for very long, and likewise the way Hatton is eating his career away, he could be in for a sharp shock very shortly.
Make the fight already.
what he did to Corley was underrated. He gave the guy almost no opportunity to counter him. then made the guy pay for every bit of aggression he did, to the point that Corley would no longer attack Witter. Every time Corley came out of his shell Witter would clip him round the side of his head. Mid fight he was shaking him badly. It was a quite masterful psych job. I like the way in rd 9 (i think) he was orthodox, but probing Corley with the right hand, as if to say 'I can touch you when I want with my REAR hand AND I can intercept your shots'. In his own way, Witter owned that boy.
Those kind of abilities can take him a long way. I was 50-50 with Witter based on the last 3 fights, but I was very encouraged by last night.

Harris is a strange one. Deadly but beatable. Urkal might have lost officially, but he boxed Harris' ears off in their first fight. Harris beats him up in a rematch, then completely loses his composure vs Maussa.
i think Witter gives off negative connotations as a man going stale waiting for his title shot. Let's give him a chance as who knows what improvements and growth he might go through as WCB champ. He won't take his title for granted like Harris did. He won't turn down and price himself out of major fights like Harris stupidly did.
I think we will see some intensity and urgency from Junior. He knows he CANNOT lose that belt. A lot of other title holders can lose & get a title shot in their next fight.

I think that Witter will gain a lot from from winning the WBC title. He's now a legit champ and when the dust settles he will realise that.
The real test for him is who he decides to fight in his defence. If it is a payday people will switch off, but if he chooses a top a quality fighter, which with his style he should, people will be interested. At 32 he has to make the right fights and look toward Hatton down the line whatever happens to either.

I see your illogic, it makes completely no sense.Halfamill wrote:Witter vs Hopkins would be good
