I did wonder a couple of times when Witter swung at air and left his chin in the air if we were going to have another Bomber Graham moment.

As it turned out we didn't but Witter has his prize, the WBC champion of the world and nobody can take that away from him. Well obviously someone can be beating him but you know what I mean, nobody can take away that acheivement.

He can concern himself with exciting the Americans in his next fight, for now he's acheived a lifelong ambition (of any fighter) and probably gone some way to gaining financial security for himself and his family.

As a footnote to this, I'd love to hear Herol's opinion of Witter's showing on Friday night. I'd bet my last dollar that he wishes he had done the same in a couple of his title shots and just stayed out of trouble and picked up the belt.

i watched it again, and was more impressed. he owned Corley, something that only the best can do. Witter wasn't going to let Corley land those sneak punches. When Corley realised that he had to go after Witter, he was put in the sobering position: that every time he came out his shell, he would either be put in his place or wobbled by Witter.

Witter really put Corley in a position where he had to try something. But DC wouldn't risk getting caught. I love it the way he TOTALLY put him in a box.

Looking at it again, he really got under Corley's skin. If Corley had done ANYTHING after round 5 he would've probably been dropped a few times.


I agree, the result was crucial to Witter. There would've been no way back. I hope ppl don't start avoiding him for not looking exciting.

yeah, graham coming out flapping in rd 4 with no defence against the biggest p4p puncher in history was one of the dumbest things ever in boxing.
