I think it's more of a boxing thing.
Where do you hear more religious bleating (outside of a place of worship) than immediately after a boxing match? Of course that's almost always Christians boxers though.

I read this article this morning in the actual Times paper, the reporter was alluding to the fact Khan came across as a wee bit arrogant which surprised me i always thought him to be quite down to earth.

That's a misinformed comment - most of the boxers in the UK and USA are (at least nominal) CHristians, so post fight there are more likely to be CHristians thanking god if that is what they want.

BUT more importantly I am not specifically talking about post fight. I'm talking in general interviews - HAmed, Khan, Williams (the only high profile muslim boxers in the UK off the top of my head) can't stop talking about Islam, how great it is, how important it is for Muslims accross the world to see a successful boxer and blah, blah, balh, blah.

I don't want to get into another Islam vs Scientific Secularism thread, but as an agnostic secularist I am just sick to death of people banging on about their primitive, divisive beliefs.....

Don't get me wrong, I shake my head when Ebo Elder, Evander Holyfield go on about their beliefs, but Islam is just constantly being pushed in our face.

That is your problem if you don't like it . Amir never mention anything about god after his fight for interview.

I understand what you're saying and it does piss me off too. But it pisses me off in equal measure when non muslims say the same type of thing. 'I thank god', 'god gave me the talent', 'only for my belief in god' etc etc. In short it isn't anything we haven't heard before but we live in times of heightened suspicion and tension.

For Khan, I hope he doesn't find the need to be the acceptable face of Islam because of the unacceptable militant jihadist element that presides within it. I just hope he gets on with his boxing career and fulfills the potential he undoubtedly has.
