Maybe Forbes for Witter

Post by Old bones Ian »

Talk is that Steve Forbes could be the next opponent for Junior Witter, to try and get TV exposure in the states. Forbes was the runner up in the recent Contender program.

Frobes record doesnt look upto much, formally a Super Feather who lost to C Hernandez with plenty of losses.

If it gets Witter a good reputation with the Americans then i see no reasons why not, ok not the best fight that can be made but sometimes you gotta look at the long term :TU:

fvck

Olusegun, or even Bami, would be more appealing.

Then again, I wouldn't like to see Olusegun get thrown in too early. The Nigerian 140-pounder should carry on beating up whatever domestic welters & light middles dare face him!

Forbes was a decent favourite over LMW Brewer but I'd still take last years Mora or Manfredo to beat them both but they have grew into MW/SMW's.

Still, Forbes will be a good coming out party for the yanks I guess..something to erase their memory of the Judah fight...

If Witter want's a bigger coming out party in US then Malinaggi would be great.

Heard worse, heard better. I think Forbes is probably better than the critics give him credit for. I think this fight is trickier than lots are suggesting.

Alfonso Gomez would have possibly been a better avenue if Alfonso could make 140. I think it would be an easier fight for Witter probably vs as big a name opponent. Gomez really did capture the hearts during the first series of the Contender.

I've tried my best to avoid Contender results until I see them.

Thanks for this.

I assume your last sentence is supposed to indicate that everyone knew the result. Can you imagine the lengths I've had to go to to avoid finding out then?

Should never have clicked on this thread though, I'll give you that!

Topper - no bother mate.
