Amateurs wear headgear which doesn't really protect the nose to well but definitely helps protect from cuts. They wear 10 oz gloves below 152 lbs and everyone else wears 12 oz gloves I believe (at least in the USA). International bouts are 2 oz. less I think. They usually go 4 - 2 min rounds, but I've heard of 5 rounds before. You see some great fights in the amateurs, especially at tournaments where everybody has to fight everybody. The pros could learn from that.

According to AIBA rules all boxers use 10oz gloves. Bouts are 4x2 at tournaments but the rules accept 5x2, 6x2, 3x3 and 4x3 if previously agreed.
