It seems like Jerry Roth, Chuck Giampa, and Dave Moretti judge a lot of the big fights. Often it seems that Roth in particular has some strange scoring. For example:
He scored Foreman-Schulz for Foreman, 115-113.
He scored Trinidad-De La Hoya for Trinidad, 115-113.
He scored the first Mayweather-Castillo fight for Mayweather 115-111.
He scored the first Hopkins-Taylor fight for Hopkins, 116-112.
He scored Holmes-Carl Williams 143-142 for Holmes. Williams had to have won at least 10 rounds. (The other judges actually had Holmes winning 146-139.)
In Roth's defense, there are many other fights that he his scoring seemed pretty accurate. Of course there are many other judges who have been even farther off the mark in a fight.
However, it seems interesting that he scored this many big fights this way.
It's hard to say wheater he plays favorites, like certain styles, has bad eyesight, simply doesn't know boxing or what.
Should he be given big fights in the future? Does any one know of another judge in boxing history who has scored this many fights like this?
Judge Jerry
Jerry Roth is the best judge in Boxing, and the reason you think his scores are "strange" that ulike many judges he is teamed up with, not to mention the pre fabricated boxing media and most half baked commentators, he actually knows how to score a fight.
With the exception of Castillo Mayweather score, which had several rounds that could have gone either way. he was right on the money with all the scores you posted.
By the wasy, Bob Arum questioning Roths integrity after the Tito vs DLH fight, should, and has in most cases, completly destoyed any credibilty Arum had up to that point.
What a JOKE.
Arum questioning Roth's integrity is like a Pig calling a greyhound fat.

You really think that Trinidad deserved the decison against De La Hoya,
Holmes deserved the decison against Williams, Foreman deserved the decison against Schulz, and that Hopkins won 8 rounds against Taylor?
:(
115-111 is way off base for the first Mayweather-Castillo fight. Mayweather would have lucky to have gotten a draw.
I don't know about Arum's comments, and obviously Arum himself doesn't have much integrity.
However, it's pretty obvious that Roth blew several decisons in important fights. Why is the bigger question.
I have a theory that he perhaps he simply favors the bigger name. With the exception of Trinidad-De La Hoya , all these fights featured one fighter who was a much bigger name than the other. The less well known fighter outhustled the lethargic bigger name in each of these fights. However, each time Roth gave the fight to the bigger name.

In the Holmes/Williams fight I only saw it once and that was a long time ago, but I scored it for Holmes because Williams was effective with his jab but he did'nt land his right hand all that often. In a post fight interview Williams said he thought the decsision was fair.

mayweather defintley won the first castillo fight. i dont know what fight you were watching. mayweather dominated the early rounds and split the late rounds to win a close but clear decision. it was mayweathers first fight at 135lb and he wasnt adjusted to the weight, and he was suffering from HORRIBLY brittle hand injuries in that first castillo fight.
hopkins won the first taylor fight IMO. i had it 115-113 hopkins. taylor simply didnt do enough in the early rounds to win all of them, and hopkins winning the last 4 rounds earned him at minimum a draw and the right to retain his title.
oscar clearly won the tito fight. horrible scorecard by jerry roth.
