Hatton interview from Nuts Mag

Post by Max Molyneux »

When he's taking it easy.

11:00: I don't like to get up too early, especially after a big night out when I'm probably still hungover which is usually the case on Sunday mornings!

11:30: It's got to be a proper greasy bacon and egg sandwhich with loads of ketup. It's just what you need before a big day out on the pop.

12:00: I'll start the day off at my local for a few pints. I like my Guinness, so I might start with a couple of those, but I'm usually on the Budweiser.

13:00 I've got a box at Manchester City, so I'll go down there with my pals. It's great because it means we've got somewhere to drink straight after, rather than having to fight through the traffic.

19:00: We'll all usually go for a nice dinner out. I must admit, I do like a hot curry sometimes, but a I'm more of a starter man really, so I tend to have a bundle of them.

21:00: Manchester's always a goodnight out but more often I tend to go out in my local area, Stalybridge - or "StalyVegas" as we like to call it.

4:00: It's always a late one when I'm out with my pals, but when you have three fights a year like I do, you don't get much time off, so you have to enjoy it when you do.

When he's training hard.

9:00: I'm not one of these boxers that gets myself up at four or five in the morning to go running like Rocky, because I know a small lie-in will benifit me more.

9:30: Breakfast is usually a nutritional shake and porridge - It's fornicating horrible! As you're eating it, you can't wait to finish it.

12:30: I go to my gym for my training. You name it, I do it all down there- Shadow boxing, pad work, sparring four times a week, I'll do all my weight training too.

16:00: When I'm in training for a fight, I'll eat four or five small meals - stuff like chicken with rice and vegetables. They're easier to burn off than if I had three big meals instead.

19:00: I do my running on the roads around my house every night - even weekends. At the start of my training, I'll run four miles but as it gets closer to the fight, I'll build it up to six. I usually listen to a bit of the Chilli Peppers or Oasis to keep me going.

21:00: I'll have a recovery shake and another small meal before bed. It's usually more chicken. I hate but the stuff that tastes best is whats worse for you, unfortunately. Luckily, I've got the will power to stick to it!

22:00: I'll get myself into bed, bang my Tv on, set the timer, and fall asleep whenever I drop off.

Hmm, sounds like the ecessive curries and drinking that does it and he's loaded enough to buy good healthy food. Wonder how many time his pals go to his Manchester city box with him as there not millionares like him to go with him to the box that much surely.
Think he is trying to impress nuts with how much of a lad he is there! a bit of the old "I drank 15 pints and wasn't a bit pissed".

His training doesn't strike me as as hard coure as you'd think really maybe thats just cos don't get up in the morning. I remember when he was on they think its all over and was talking about not having sex befor fights they said "how do you manage that" he said "I sleep in my boxing gloves" Nick Hancock "Oh I thought you mite have been having sex with another person" ha ha

Fighting twice a year (and now since May) will really really hurt Hatton

Hatton is a grotesque slob.

Hard to picture Mayweather out on the piss til 4 in the morning & stuffing himself with curries.

What a horrific lifestyle. I can picture all the fat greasy slobs scratching their arse & reading Nuts saying 'that Hattons one of the lads!'

I wouldnt want to be one of em!!

Its worked for him so far. No one in Europe can match Ricky's intensity in the ring. Not many in the world can.

Good on him for living hs life as he sees fit. You dont have to be a fitness nut with the lifestyle of a monk to be a world champ. Thats heartening.

Mayweathers known for his visiting of clubs, smoking weed, and probably does his fair share of drinking alongside it.

Hatton in the past has shown to have the best stamina/strength at 140. But he'll lose sharpness and speed (hes already not as sharp as a year or 2 ago).

Ummm you certainly have to be a fitness nutt for 3-4months of pre-fight training. And have had countless numbers of those 3month murderous training camps for about 15years prior to becoming a champ.

We all saw what happened to Judah when he underestimated Baldomir

Probably the worse thing Hatton does, is the morning of the fight he goes to the local greasy spoon cafe, and has the biggest fry up they can get on his plate. He calls it his reward for 12 - 14 weeks of eating what he calls " shit "

Coupled with that Yes I do expect my fighters to be fitness freaks and my footballers you see all these blokes who work there arse off to be able to pay to watch there heros fight and the guys who get all the money don't show them the respect to take there sport seriousely boxing is entertainment without respecting your fans your not doing your job.

Spot on. Most fighters have an 8 week camp, Hatton has a 12-14 week camp as he's a fat slob before training. In the long run he is doing his fans a disservice as his prime will be very short and of course the inactivity coupled with the long training camps means less fights to watch. Hatton is in serious danger of ruining his career right now in my opinion.

ha ha ha.

there's no fitter man when he steps thru those ropes though.

if his performances start suffering then we can't start to criticise.

until then, i'll have a burger and chips please.

I think you are leaving yourself open to a lot of replies there HH. People will throw the Collazo fight right at you as an example. Be prepared, do your homework, they will come at you like a swarm of bees. :TU:

Sounds crazy that he might be sliding already but I'm starting to agree now!

Hatton's sounding like an alcoholic too if he's starting his day off at the local with a few beers and then more pints at his Manc city Box.

collazo was a good fighter. i saw some of the rivera fight on youtube the other day and rivera is a big ricky hatton type of fighter.

hatton won by 8 rds to 4 in my opinion. 2 of the judges only had it a rd closer and the other one another rd closer.

collazo won 5, 6, 10 and 12.

2, 4 and 9 are debateable i think.

I had it the same, skin of the teeth. No way on earth Hatton won 8 rounds.

"And our judge who is coincidentally named Hitman Hatton 1 scored the bout 116-112." Nothing quite like an impartial judge.

I think even Hatton himself would admit he didn't win 8 rounds in that fight.

I think you will find instead of flash cars and shit like that, his treat to himself is the box at Man C, so i doubt that his mates have to pay, it will all be down to him.

Do they hang with him there everyday though? Surely they have other things to do.

HH that is a crazy score for the Callazo bout, 6-6 with the KD was the right one definately.

More pressing was his inability to jab and this total lack of movement (poss down to exastion) in the last round.
