An old timer who I now see regularly, who used to train with Roko said my style reminded him of Roko's. He said Roko could hit hard, didn't know very much english, and was a bit of a gentleman in sparring until he got hit hard....then you would get a few hard ones back. Said he was thrown in over his head way to early.

Don't know anything about the guy but I know that Hector Thompson was severely affected by his death for the remainder of his career and long after it. It was the first of 2 fatalities involving Hector

The Australian boxing magazine "Fighter" had two stories about Roko Spanja. The first was in the November, 1970, edition, & the other in May, 1972, both stories had pictures. In his boxrec record there is a fight against Sid Capewell shown without a result, it was a draw, over 6 rounds. It was shown on TV Ringside & was an all action war.
