Great records but never a World champ
Great records but never a World champ
The fighter Nino Laroca comes to mind.
This guy had a tremendous record .Of course there were some easy ones there.
But Boxing has had guys like this forever .
Name some others and why they never got a shot or won the big one.

Im talking basicaly numbers here. Wins and losses.Decagon wrote:Strange that you mention LaRocca, but not Langford, Burley, Marshall, Darcy, Jeanette... Why not simply start a topic on LaRocca? Anyway, he did fight for a title, the Welterweight Championship held by Donald Curry.
I know about the great uncrowned champs.
The guys you mentioned and of course the great Billy Graham as Borinken mentioned.

Come on, Dec. That wasn't a fight. LaRocca was almost as terrified of Curry as Bruce The Goose was when he met Tyson. I couldn't believe how frightened and timid Nino was - a fekkin joke.Decagon wrote:Strange that you mention LaRocca, but not Langford, Burley, Marshall, Darcy, Jeanette... Not sure if this guy really counts but what about Australian Midleweight Dave Sands who had a record of something like 97-10-1
He did most of his fighting out of Australia so its hard to say really. He did crush an old Dick Turpin. Maybe if the proposed fight with Randolph had happened we would have learnt more about him?
