..... which was no more than an eliminator fight at the time, with the winner getting a shot at Bowe or Holyfield, while the true champ (Tyson) was in prison.
AND I wondered how long it will take until we get again such a quality matchup in ANY heavyweight bout. Even unification fights.
Among the current heavyweights, Vlad is the only one who talent- and techniquewise could mix with Lennox and Razor; but he doesn't have the mental mindset, chin and timing to compete at the same level with RR/LL. Everyone else around these days would be easy prey for the 1992 Lennox/Razor anyway.
Saw a replay of Ruddock vs. Lewis 1992 recently

Sorry, but a prime Lewis would make VERY short work of Wlad. As you noted, Wlad has some skills, but with his size, power and skill, Lewis would have been a terrible opponent for Wlad.pundit wrote:Among the current heavyweights, Vlad is the only one who talent- and techniquewise could mix with Lennox and Razor; but he doesn't have the mental mindset, chin and timing to compete at the same level with RR/LL. How was Tyson the true champ in 1992 when Douglas took the belt off him in 1990?pundit wrote:..... which was no more than an eliminator fight at the time, with the winner getting a shot at Bowe or Holyfield, while the true champ (Tyson) was in prison.

I agree that early 90s Lennox and Razor would obliterate anybody in todays heavyweight division

Not even prime Lewis only, but plausibly also the 1992 (pre-prime) Lewis and the 1992 (end-of-prime) Ruddock. The Great John L wrote:Sorry, but a prime Lewis would make VERY short work of Wlad.
