Excellent post Tony, I hope Carl does read it.

Showed class there Tony..... keep your chin up yourself and I hope your back in the ring soon.

Are you still English champion? Hope to see you back in the ring in Early 2007..... You looked in great shape and maybe you can defend the English title while Froch decides on what is happening for the British title.

Still loads of Domestic options for you..... Barney, Catley etc.

Fair play to you Tony. Glad to hear you were willing to come on here and answer some of the questions people would have liked to ask. It's a shame it had to end so early but what happened with getting winded etc is understandable. Hope you don't leave it too long now with getting back into the ring. When Froch moves on to bigger things, that belt will be there for the taking.

well done tony, big respect to you. i was there ringside on fri night, you looked a very determined young man in there and had good support behind you. i think you are right about carl, he does LOOK easy to hit and that could be the downfall of many future opponents, and if you do catch him, he holds a shot very well too. i often think carl needs a few clips on the chin to get him going as he loves a tear up.

but respect to you coming on here and taking the flak that will no doubt come your way. but you have admitted you were beaten by the better man on the night, and it was good to see you and carl share an embrace at the end, it showed you respected each other.

you are young tony and carl will relinquish the crown, i hope you still have the hunger to battle for it again.

best wishes.

Never any excuses needed, it was a beautiful little shot, right on the button. No shame in defeat either, he's a good fighter who looked as sharp as I've seen him in the second and third rounds.

Good luck for whatever comes next.

A real show of class, Tony.

Well done, sir. You gave it a go and there is no disgrace in losing to a shot like that.

did you anticipate him going to your body tony and had you done any special abdominal training to withstand the shots downstairs. you have been stopped to the body before, is it just something that, however hard you train, if you get nauled on the button there is nothing you can do about it.

You went in there and gave it your best shot.

No one can ask for more than what you did.

You took Froch by suprise with your first round onslaught
but Froch caught you to the body, it has happened to the
best of them.

Hopefully now you can remain injury free and go on to
win the vacant British title.

To be honest there is no other Super middle in Britain today other than Froch who would beat Dodson in my opinion...

yeah touch of class coming on and posting tony.
i thought you were going to win after the first.
to be fair to froch he adjusted his gameplan pretty quick and started to counter you as you came in.
those body shots just happen, if someone catches you right in the solar plexus all the sit ups under the sun wont help.
your only 26 which is young by todays standards and have plenty of time to come again.
good luck for the future mate.

How often do you plan on fighting from now on Tony and do you think it will be mainly in Liverpool? Are you with Barry Hearn?

Fair play to you Tony, I fancied Froch to win all along, but it was a tough assignment for you coming back from injury, and that was a peach of a body shot, looked like you never saw it coming.

You seemed to take him out of his stride the 1st round, and perhaps had you had some tune up fights it would have been a lot more competitive, but anyone can get done by one of those body shots to the short ribs.

Fair play Tony - it shows class and humility to come on here and give Froch props so soon after the fight.

Froch surprised me a little on Friday, I didnt think he could win that quickly. Having said that you still have a lot left to offer and may well wear the Lonsdale belt again one day.

Good luck :TU:

Without trying to sound like a suckass, I think Froch showed real class after the fight and in the interview. I think not only did Froch earn Dodson's respect with his strength and that body shot - but Dodson earned Froch's respect.

Did you have a good chat with Froch after, Tony? I hope you got to share a coke (or maybe something stronger) after. Hope you didn't have a bar of chocolate though!! That line about Froch and the Chocolate had me in stitches.

A lot of respect to you Tony for coming on the forum after only three days later. For what it's worth I gave you the first, Carl the second and obviously the third is history........ I think you should also be proud of all the fans you bought with you from Liverpool. They showed a lot of faith, made a lot of noise and made the best fightnight atmostphere of 2006 (and I've been to MEN, Cardiff and York Hall this year). I know there was a bit of trouble at the end, but the fans we were sitting by (including your aunt and her family) behaved themselves decently all night, allbeit gutted at the final outcome.
I think sometimes it's hard for fans to take a boxer's defeat, at least when your football team get thrashed you are still guaranteed 90 minutes of football. But if you driven all the way down the motorway and waited through 4 hours of undercard action sometimes it can be hard to take to see your man beaten early. I think also fans don't empathise with the pain of a body shot, to them it's bit like losing to a cut eye (ie not a conclusive ending).
I imagine Carl will look to vacate his titles as he moves onto to bigger and better things and doors will open for you in 2007. However I doubt you will be fighting Brian Magee anytime soon. His future is now at light-heavyweight and he should be fighting for the Commonwealth title next. A fight I think is more interesting is you versus the come backing Glenn Catley. Now that would be a fight people would want to watch. I've spoken to his team and they have hopes of jumping straight into a WBC title clash which I think is unlikely at the moment. In truth I don't think Glenn is too bothered who he fights, he just wants to fight soon and often.
What's your feelings on Catley Tony? And what is Carl's chin like, you seem to clip him a bit in that first round?
