PROMISING..? BIG TALK FROM DANNY WILLIAMS!
From The Guardian:
Williams said:
"Forget the last fight, this time I am going to lay straight into Harrison from the opening bell and punish him for all the embarrassment he has caused me because of that fight. I respected him too much but, looking back now, there was nothing to respect. For such a big guy he punches like a girl, has no chin and has the heart of a mouse. If there is a fighter in Harrison, now is the time for him to show it. He had better not fight like a pansy because this time you will see a completely different Danny Williams."

Williams has had chance after chance to get back in the world title picture and has blown it by coming in massively out of shape. It's tough to marry the words and actions of BOTH Williams and Audley in the last couple of years. Neither seem to have the motivation or desire required anymore... not something Matt Skelton (for all his faults) could be accused of.
I think its safe to assume that Williams (due to the hurried nature of his prep for this fight) will be in worse shape than when these two met first time. One can only hope that Audley has got a bit a fire back in his belly, but that does seem somewhat optimistic to say the least. A 10-12 round borefest does seem the most likely outcome.

That is why it has taken him nearly 7 years just to graduate to domestic British level & he's not even good enough for that!!!!!
Audley didn't win an Olympic gold by not having any ambition. He had a bit of fire at some point (probably much dampened by the £1m the BBC paid him).Syntax Error wrote:Audley NEVER had fire in his belly to start with.Taki... wrote:Williams has had chance after chance to get back in the world title picture and has blown it by coming in massively out of shape. Have any of you actually SEEN Audleys Olympic fights? The guy used to come out fast throwing heavy leather (hard to picture, i know).
Cheer up you miserbale bastards. By the time these twoi come on we'll have watched Khan chin Lupe El Crappo Sanchez or whatever his name is, and found out how prepared Scott Harrison was. Just sit back and give them the benefit of the doubt, i think its going to be entertaining.
Bah humbug!

I have a horrible feeling that Danny will come in 19+stone and will be outboxed and outwirked by a relatively more aggressive Harrison... this fight is interesting as whoever loses will find it very hard to get back into contention, so logically both men should really be up for it... at least if Danny loses he has got the excuse that he's come in at a weeks notice, which he should get credit for really, ....if Audely loses though I dont see anyway back for him...

We all know this is going to be a stinker. We all know it.
Williams couldn't get "up for" the first fight with his arch-enemy & worst critic, so he won't this time either.
I don't understand Williams. I don't think anyone does. What I do know is that I am past caring. As for Audley....I lost interest after his first pro fight (remember the 'fro and beer belly)
This fight has car-crash appeal to me, so i'll be watching...but i'll be rooting for them both to lose.

I blamed both of them. If Danny Williams couldn't take out a bloke who didn't want to punch him, then he should also partly be at blame too? Or am I alone in that opinion?livingstone cole wrote:Maybe Danny entering the ring as a colossal tub of lard won't be such a bad thing. He knows he barely has the stamina to stand up for thirty six minutes. He is going to try and take him out early. Last time neither man did much and we mostly criticised Harrison for that, we saw that Harrison didn't want to get hit. Maybe Danny will put in an all or nothing three round performance and collapse on his stool if he doesn't knock him out.
I'm really trying to convince myself that this might be worth watching.
Though he did get one good punch in.

Since when has a fighter's performance as an amateur, had any relevance as a pro?overhand_right wrote:Have any of you actually SEEN Audleys Olympic fights? The guy used to come out fast throwing heavy leather (hard to picture, i know).

They're two different games.
Audley may well have thrown a lot of punches in the head guard wearing, overprotected amateur days, but as you have seen, he is distinctly gunshy as a pro, when he is up against better than sub-standard opposition.

I translate that to:
"I am now fatter and lazier than ever, the only reason I took the fight is because I was doing smeg all else and thought I may as well earn a few quid. Harrison may be bad but I'm not much better and if I was going to do anything in this division I would have done it by now. This fight means nothing any way as we all know that the winner will either go on a cake eating frenzy or scuttle off back to the US to fight complete bums in the hope of picking up some shite belt along the way."
