The following schedule of boxing shows was taken from the NY Times for 1947.
Monday: St Nicholas Arena
Tuesday: Broadway Arena, Park Arena
Wednesday: Jamacia Arena
Thursday: Forum Arena
Friday: Madison Square garden
Saturaday: Ridgewood Grove

Wow!!! Is that not the ultimate. What would one do on Sunday.

Thanks for the info. When I first visited New York in the early 60's three places on my list to see were Stillman's Gym, Madison Square Garden and Jack Dempsey's restaurant

Reading your post about the places you wanted to visit when you came to New York made me feel like you might enjoy a thread I just opened up on this board about funny, bizarre incidents in the fight game that I've witnessed since the 40's.

John Garfield, I thank you for the article on Stillmans Gym.I'm originally from Ct. and a Fight fan and somewhat fighter. In 1950 I was in New York and got to go in Stillmans and see it for real. Ernie Durango was sparring and Rocky Graziano came in all dress to kill, light brown overcoat and all. It was just as you say it is. I'll always remember that moment and also standing out front of MSG and thinking of the fights I had heard on the radio and seen on TV there. Thanks again for bringing back the memories.
