Valero's 1st defense tonight (wednesday)

Post by jomothepure »

And by jove it's a bad'un.

He fights 22-3-1 Michael Lozada. Ok, until you see Lozada has beaten only 3 guys with a +500 record, drew with a guy 1-10, and has MDs over two guys 3-7 and 0-4. Of course, however, he holds a WBA regional title. Hurrah.

Lozada would struggle to get a top 10 spot in his domestic rankings, let alone be a credible world title opponent. Given Valero's power, this match-up is farcical to the point of dangerous. I e-mailed the WBA saying as such, but of course got no reply.

... Lozado wouldn't even be able to struggle for a Mexican TOP10 ... Boxrec shows him as a domestic #38 ...
