Edwin Valero successfully defended his WBA super-featherweight title against Mexican Michael Lozada in Tokyo today.

Yep, impressive run that Valero is on, whatever his flaws, he can punch, and he can get off the canvas to win a fight too. He'll probably get his arse handed to him if he fights Pacquaio, but it will be a thrill a minute whilst it lasts, could be like a mini Hagler v Hearns.

Seen Lozada a few time and I am not that surprised by the result. Although, I did think an upset might happen if Lozada caught Valero, cause he can bang a bit too.

Not really the best fighter out there, not really worthy of a shot. I do have the feeling that given Valero's obvious medical problems that the big names will always alude him because the big boxing country will never see him fight.

Valero has serious power that is true but he showed in his fight with Mosquera he can take it as well as give it and his stamina should be okay when needed. I would love to see Pacquiao-Valero, man that would be a thrill a minute.

Cheers for posting the youtube link. Never looked at you tube before. Looks like there's loads of boxing on it. Is it possible to save the clips from youtube? And as the Valero fight looked like it came from Japanese TV, doesn't this breach copyright somewhere down the line?

He was much more reserved there than he has been in the past he usually comes out winding up big hooks and swinging for the fences.

there is a way i will look for it. youtube break copyright every second still netted the owners nearly 2 billion dollars.

sign in for an account with youtube (its free) and you can save a favourites list on there without downloading them.

Valero vs pacman? give valero time, it will make it a better fight. give valero to the end of the year with some tough fights he might even win it.

Or you could use Firefox as your browser and download the extension: VideoDownloader and then you can download any of the videos off YouTube etc..

...reminds me a bit of Freitas in terms of power at that weight, Freitas I think went to 29 wins 29 knockouts or something with his KO streak.

Big puncher alright, interesting fighter to follow.

The buzz around Valero at the moment is really something. I hope we don't have to watch this concrete hitter waste his talent facing people like Lozada, who lets face it shouldnt have been in the ring with Edwin.

The big fights could forever continue to elude Valero over his medical history, I hope not. The only one i see possible is Pacquiao-Valero in the phillipines. That would be great.

Yeah i remember Freitas looked so exciting on the way up, i had a video of his early fights. Looking back it was overpriced and the quality was shite (Fights4you) but it was enjoyable as Freitas was such a hard hitter. KO'ing the likes of Nelson, Jones, Montes, Alexandrov, Alicea etc if i remember correctly it was African tough nut Alfred Kotey who extended him for the first time over 12 rounds.
