Audley v Sprott

According to the Boxrec schedule. Sprott will be in the opposite corner. I haven't seen any of Sprott's German adventures so how do you think he'll do?

I'm sure he'll put up a better show than Danny but who reckons we'll see a return to the Harrison of old or did he really turn a corner last time out?

I saw one of Sprott's German adventures on Eurosport, I forget against who. He won the fight, but lost it on points as it was Germany.

Good fight for Audley, though he is hardly world class.

Harrison should win this comfortably, although it has all the ingredients necessary for a really dull fight. Both men are such passive fighters, I wonder who (if anyone) will make the running?

Harrison should look to dominate early, because Sprott can be forced into his shell if he can't get on top. I think if Harrison can come out like he did against Williams, then there's a chance he can make it an easy night for himself, if not then it's early to bed for the viewers.

My pick? Your worst fears realised, Shirow. Harrison proves that the showing against big Danny was a one off. A boring points win for him though.

How long do we have to go around on the Audley/Sprott/Williams/Skelton merry-go-round before something happens?
allegedly was talking about world titles after Williams beat Audley first time (and after Williams/Skelton 1 and 2)... that was in 2005... and still we're seeing variations on a theme involving those 4 names.

this is the fight that tells us that audley is better than top domestic level, sprotty is the gatekeeper to the european division, if audley beats sprott (convincingly) then he can march onto bigger and better things......but

sprott will be hungry

sprott will enter the ring to win

sprott can bang as well as box

Whilst I think Sprott is a good boxer, I think its a questions of styles. I would favour Sprott over Gammer, but give Gammer a much bigger chance at Audley than Sprott.

I think the size difference is a massive factor. Sprott can be intimitated. I think thats what cost him vs Skelton and also has cost him in the past. There have been many times where he looks capable of winning but seems to be too damn nervous to really commit - the Paolo Vidoz fight is a prime example.

Sprott did essentially beat the Current EBU champion, but Vilches is among the poorer EBU champions in history. Very slow, very predicable - from the off you could see Sprott fancied it and he did well. However, vs Chagaev he looked like he knew he was out of his depth practically before the first glove was landed. I have the feeling this will happen vs Audley - when it comes to the stare down.

Not a bad match up at all.
Sprott could lay claim to being Britains number one these days,and has some decent victories on the european scene,not including his win over Virchis in which he was robbed.
Audley will fancy this one I reckon.
Sprott is knockout-able,and Audley will enjoy huge physical advantages.

It's a tougher fight for Audley than Gammer,who has yet to beat anyone and prove he is anything but domestic class.

i agree, essentially a great fight for both men, if sprott gets beat then its no big deal, if audley gets beat then its curtains im afraid...

This is a good fight. Michael can look a little intimidated at times in there, but he has good boxing skills, is quick and mobile, and when in the mood he packs quite a punch for a small heavyweight. If he comes in there really believing he can beat Audley, we could have an upset.

If Audley beats Sprott convincingly, then he has taken another step in convincing me he is anything more than domestic class, though until he beats Skelton, he cannot claim to being the main man in this country, as Matt has wins over both men. Good keep busy fight, and at least Sprott has been active, and has probably gained some confidence from fighting abroad, winning some, and losing some a little controversially.

It's a good fight, although it's the sort of fight Audley should have been taking a couple of years ago. Harrison should never have fannied about trying to promote himself. Warren has his critics, but you can't dispute that the man knows what he's doing.

Fair play to Warren, who clearly wants Audley to clean up domestically - and in commanding fashion - before he can talk of world titles.

ok, so Gammer wants no part of him, so Sprott and Skelton will have to do.

Audley has a lot going for him - how many heavyweights actually know how to fight a southpaw? Look how Holyfield and Wlad fared first time they fought a southpaw. They looked the worst that they'd ever looked, just about.

I actually think Williams was bemused with Audley's simple jab, left cross, step to the right strategy. When Audley fights smart, and fights like he means it, he can offset a lot of people.

As a big bloke, there's always going to be alimit to the pace he can fight, so it's important that he keeps things long range, discourages ppl from getting close with the uppercuts and body shots as they come in, and basically fight a balanced, assertive fight.

I think that they were referring to Audley being a world class operator, something that, as yet, he clearly is not proven to be.

I fail to see the reason for the excitement about this fight, fighting for the Fraudulent Euro title is hardly a world class endeavour!!... obviously when Fraudley talks about winning world titles he has his eyes firmly set on the WBU variety.... joke fight for a joke title!... undisputed by 2008 my arse!.

It's a step in the right direction, a decent test and he's keeping active whilst waiting for Skelton

Sprott is way more of a test than 2 ton Williams so its step in the right direction. And to be honest I'll be impressed if he beats Sprott I'm not sure if he can.

Calm down! There's few bigger Audley naysayers than me, but this is a decent fight whilst waiting for Skelton, if indeed he intends to fight Skelton of course. I think that allegedly has poured some ice cold water on Audley's fire following his big talk post-fight last time out. Warren is a realist, and knows that he isn't going to be likely to be able to sell Audley for a title shot off the back off a win against Williams, however, if he prevails over Sprott and Skelton, then he will be in a much better bargaining position.

This could be a tricky one for Audley, especially if Michael comes in with ambition and isn't fazed by the big occasion. He's had some good confidence-boosting wins in Germany, and is coming along nicely at this late stage. It'll be tricky, especially with all the physical advantages Fraudley holds. I would expect Harrison to win, but will be rooting for Michael.

On paper this is an acceptable fight, but for someone with such a big mouth as Audely its a bit of a joke... he wants to be accepted as a future champ yet is still fighting journeymen domestic opposition.... and this from a man who would be undisputed champion by next year!!!

the only 'world' title Fraudly will be fighting for in the near future is probably a vacant WBU bauble with Skelton in the other corner probably...

Silkov, Sprott is European class. He was robbed against current European champ Vladimir Virchis.

Its a stepping stone fight (providing he wins) against a good European level operator, whilst waiting for Skelton to recover from his hand injury. What was you expecting Audleys next fight to be??

I get the impression that no matter what Audley does you will criticise, if I remember correctly it was yourself who couldn't find a decent word to say about Audley after he beat Williams

But let's be honest, is there anything really that convinces you that Harrison is going to become world heavyweight champion, aprt from the extremely dire state of the division right now. You can't tell me that Harrison showed HEART against Williams - what he showed was that he saw an opportunity to finish Williams when it was clear he was hurt. HEART is about duking it out under massive pressure and wanting to fight. Audley didn't show that; all he did was take DW out. DW was never in the fight at all. AH was in shape and had trained hard and showed a bit of killer instinct when the openings were there. But that's it.
