#1 Colombian Fighter All Time (P4P)

Post by JAHamilton77 »

In the same train of thought as who was the greatest Puerto Rican fighter ever, I ask the same question about Colombian Fighters? Who makes your top 5 or 10 list?

Top is really thin, really only 1 guy you can put at #1 and #'s 2&3 are a tossup (IMO) after that its up for grabs as far as who makes it and doesnt.

Mine looks like this.

1. Antonio Cervantes
2. Rodrigo Valdez
3. Miguel Lora
4. Irene Pachecho
5. Fidel Bassa
6. Antonio Herrera
7. Bernardo Carabello
8. Ricardo Cardona
9. Maricio Pastrana
10. Jorge Julio

Also Rans (no particular order): Bernardo Merchado, Hugo Pineda, Rafael Pineda, Edison Miranda, Edwin Cassiani, Daniel Reyes, Victor Polo, Harold Grey

For me the best was Antonio Cervantes. I think you forgot Ricardo Torres that in my opinion is going to win a world title pretty soon.

He already did, he won the WBO 140-lb title Miguel Cotto vacated when he moved to 147 after he beat Mike Arnaoutis.

Unfortunately Torres might have brittle hands (or maybe he just hits so hard that he injures his hand), I think that will affect his boxing career in a negative way. I must admit that I thought he'd blow Arnaoutis away, even though he didn't it only showed me Arnaoutis is a very good fighter and that Torres has a lot of heart. Some fighters quit when they're injured, Torres fought as best he could and still managed to win. If Torres doesn't injure his hands (which I believe might be the downfall for his career) maybe he'll end up being a top 15 or 10 boxer from Colombia. When I saw his fight with Cotto I was amazed at how well he did.
