Post by boxerbob »

this must be wrong....according to the mirror newspaper witter is only getting £62,000 for his 1st title defence

i think he should be getting minimum of £150,000 for a voluntary defence of his wbc title

any thoughts on this???

I have no idea how much Witter is getting paid but £62,000 wouldn't surprise me.

To be honest, £62,000 does surprise me. I'd heard he was looking at getting about half that.

boxerbob, why do you think he should be getting a minimum of £150 grand for a WBC defence? The WBC aren't putting any money into the fight, it's up to the fighter to generate the cash.

It's not like the Premiership, where the winners get money based on achievement. Witter has to bring the fans to get the money, and he's not drawing a big crowd, regardless of that WBC belt. Unfair? Probably. But just holding that green belt doesn't make him a bigger earner.

I doubt he's getting a share of the PPV. I suspect that money will be used to pay Hatton the ridiculously high numbers that Fight Academy offered him.

Not quite sure how many have been sold, because I'm not sure how many the West Hall of Ally Pally seats when it's set up for boxing. The absolute maximum capacity is 2,500. No knock on Junior Witter, but I expect Lenny Daws to have sold the majority of the tickets, as a local lad.

Witter does not sell tickets and does not pull in TV viewers - hence hid purse reflects this....

He can't even draw flies in Bradford or Sheffield.
