Report from Colorado Springs regarding today's Pan Am results:

Roberto Ceron won rather easily even though Rangel gave pretty good effort in losing. Yanez simply too experienced for Gabino Saenz right now. Gabino pressured Yanez but got countered rather effectively - this were the experience factor comes in.

Qaid Muhammad looked the best so far and simply ran through poor Oscar Venegas. Shawn Nichol deserve the win against Alafa, and Aaron had two points (or four added to Nichols score) taken away for holding. Alafa also got seriously rocked in the second round and was all but out on his feet. Nichols let him off the hook, but Aaron held to survive, causing the two warnings.

Roberto Marroquin took an early lead, and Rick Lopez almost closed the show, but he was too far behind from the beginning. Lopez has a lot of heart, and he will still be pretty tough to deal with. He was much stronger than Marroquin on the inside, so he still has hope and is no pushover that is for sure. Victor Valenzuela was real quick, and basically it was his speed (even though he slaps at times) that made for any easy win against Watkins.

Walter got DQ'ed for holding. And looked terrible. He also hit Del Valle on the hip real low (many times) on the opposite side of where the referee was but all the judges could see these dirty tactics. Walter's style makes it difficult for his opponents as well and it is hard to say how good or bad Del Valle looked since the bout was sloppy throughout. Rico Ramos looked strong and quick. He hurt Narvaez throughout, and along with Muhammad at 112 - Rico looked good.

Terence Crawford outboxed poor Luis Ramos. His coach was not happy with Luis's performance. Luis is simply too young yet, and just needs to get stronger and more experienced and this should come with age.

Dargan simply pot-shotted Ray Rivera and look real good. So, along with Muhammad, Rico Ramos, and Dargan they all looked good. Hector Ramos and David De La Cruz was more of a close technical bout that got sloppy in the end. Dargan looks like the class of the division.

Demetrius is basically too slick for the power-punching Thurman, and he has the experience to outclass (even though barely) boxers with less open experience. Shawn Porter won a close decision over Jonathan Nelson - in what this writer thought was the best the best bout action-wise for the day.

Christopher Downs simply outboxed the stronger Rosinsky from the outside.

Adam Willet could have been beaten by Stallings, had Stallings set down his punches. David Carey had two warnings issued in the first two rounds. David "sucked it up" against Zimmerman who looked extremely exhausted by the end of the third round. Carey deserved the win, and Mustin basically willed him to victory by encouraging him throughout not to hold anymore. Carey vs. Willet is anyones guess, and either could win - no one looked dominating.

Mike Wilson looked like he was running out of gas against someone with limited skills but alot of heart. Runion was seen throwing looping slapping home-run overhand rights, and and Wilson's coach yelled during the third round "if you get hit with one of those punches I am going throw the stool at you!" Hilarious!

As far as our 201, 201+ - they are not at the same level as the Cubans. Hunter may fair better in the long run, he just ran out of gas. At least has some nice boxing skills he just needs experience, and to get physically stronger.

And last but not least, once you think you have seen it all in boxing something new comes along. The ring was at the bottom of an Olympic size swimming pool!

That is NOT the reason why Willis had to give Wilson a walk over. Jonte Willis has an injury. Who doesn't have a little chest problems and breathing issues in Colorado?

ACTUALLY..........WHAT HE SAID AT THE FIGHTS THIS AFTERNOON IS THAT HIS CHEST WAS HURTING HIM AND HE THOUGHT HE MAY HAVE BRONCHITIS...... HE DIDN'T MENTION ANY INJURY. (THAT I HEARD)

THIS IS WHAT WAS ALSO STATED ON USA BOXING (illness not injury) :
Due to illnesses to flyweight Qa’id Muhammad (Ventnor City, N.J.) and Jonte Willis (Tacoma, Wash.), flyweight Shawn Nichol (Lakewood, Colo.) and super heavyweight Mike Wilson (Central Point, Ore.) won by walkover.
