Best Light Welter Nearly Man?

Post by Cannibal »

All these men have come close to upsetting the balance of things in the light welter division. Question is, which one is the best and has a long term future?

I actually like the look of Torres, although it's certainly questionable whether or not the problems he gave Cotto were totally down to Cotto's weight struggles.

Malignaggi has talent, but his lack of power is a real drawback. If you can't make your opponent even slightly concerned about what's coming his way, then you're really going to struggle to beat anyone at the top level. Especially when you let yourself be dragged into bruising encounters, when sticking to your boxing will serve you better. I don't know why he does that, he can box superbly on the outside at times, but seems like he feels he has to prove he can mix it. It's madness for someone with his list of strengths and weaknesses. Plus, having hands more fragile than Middle East peace processes doesn't help at all.

Is Torres now a nearly man? He is WBO champion.

Certainly not Maussa, I liked Ngoudjo - I think his problems can be rectified more easily. He has more power/strength than Malignaggi.
